Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump Is to Blame for Violence at His Rallies
NY Times ^ | 3/11/16 | Matt Flegenheimer

Posted on 03/12/2016 4:53:30 AM PST by jimbo123

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said on Friday that Donald J. Trump bore responsibility for “creating an environment” that encourages violence at his events.

Speaking to reporters at a local Republican dinner outside Chicago, where Mr. Trump had just canceled a rally amid fierce confrontations between his supporters and protesters, Mr. Cruz began by saying that the “protesters who took violence into their own hands” were responsible for the episode.

“But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top,” Mr. Cruz continued. “And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”

Mr. Cruz invoked the protests and violent police run-ins at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and predicted that future skirmishes were likely.

“When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates,” Mr. Cruz said. “And today is unlikely to be the last such instance.”

How smart he is? I can't wait to see his next poll numbers.

I think he's smart enough to provoke the protestors to violence to his advantage, and convince his supporters he didn't do it.

C'mon, nothing he said did that. It's where he held the rally. He could have held it at a lesser airfield and the riot wouldn't have happened.

Probably his most successful rally to date, and he didn't even have to be there.

I’m not planning to vote in this election. Freepers have convinced me that there is no perfect candidate.

Seriously? There never has been. There never will be. It is not possible. There is no salvation through politics.

The entire idea that there can be a perfect candidate or a perfected Utopia is a marxist/socialist idea to begin with. There is only ever the lesser of two evils. America was founded on a system of checks and balances to deal with the reality of human imperfection. It is in need of rebalancing.

Which candidate stands outside of it wanting to redevelop it on behalf of the American people, and which candidates are already in it and beholden to its monied interests?

You think he didn't know that?

Trump has encouraged his supportes to be violent.
His supporters, at his rallies, have responded by being violent.
Now, I am not going to say that this justifies the actions of the violent protesters in Chicago.

"But I want you to understand that's just what I want you to think."

You enjoy having your rights taken away day by day, and your beliefs and choices criminalized, with no one to speak up for you? Sounds that way.

Admit the Problem.
Republicans are weasels (as you are demonstrating).
We know this for sure.

The question is, what do we do about it? Our problem is that the Democrats have ideological conformity and the Republicans do not. So the Republicans lose to the Democrats on ideological grounds, over and over again.

Possibly, but the Chicago cops thought they had it all under control.

Nobody’s dicussing where he had the rally being the cause of such violence, just his words.

I gotta admit, seeing that vicious BLM thug bleeding, face down on the pavement...made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

you are going to find real in just a few months when your whole world is in chaos. This is just the beginning. Cruz justifying mob violence along with his establishment cronies means a real war on Republicans is just beginning...

Trump has left himself vulnerable through his loose talk and advocacy of violence from the podium and in front of the TV cameras.

The left in this country has been screaming hatred of everything European-descended American patriot, everything Tea Party, everything pro-Christian for decades now. They teach it in universities, require it in CommieCore, and are even teaching our military that our proud military history and defense of the defenseless and our American Constitution are "white privilege." Their hate has bought off our news stations and mainstream media and most of our congress, and they are working hard to buy off our churches; they are already fining and ruining Christians for defending marriage.

One man tries to stand up for free speech and freedom of assembly, and the right to defend yourself against violence if the haters try to harm you, and you roll over and die, wheezing self-righteousness.

Tell me, have you found a job yet, so you can leave Mom's basement and start giving back to the nation that has given you so much?

No, he didn’t justify the violence. What part of ““Now the responsibility for that lies with protestors who took violence into their own hands.” don’t you understand?
