Federal workers are far more likely to be audited by the IRS or get arrested for drunk driving than they are to be fired from the civil service payroll for poor performance or misconduct.
The odds are one-in-175 for the IRS audit and one-in-200 for the drunk driving arrest, while the odds for a fed to be fired in a given year are one-in-500, according to the Government Accountability Office. The rate is higher for employees who are in the one-year probationary period that follows their hiring.

I think most of us assumed as much, but it never hurts to prove it.
BUMP
OK, let the beat the crap out of fed gov employees flogging begin!
If you can’t fire them just lay them off with no callback date.
Apparently gov employees can have private home servers too, on which they can store classified info without much or any recourse. :>)
Trump will fix all of this the first day.
Or wait for the gopE controlled house and senate to shut down the govt. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! Yeah, right. :>)
Whick means they can make money by selling us out too.
Basically true. Hugh Hewitt, who used to be counsel for the Office of Personnel Management, went over this one night on his radio show. There are so many redundant layers of appeal built into the system it is virtually impossible to fire them.
My wife mailed in her application for a government licence testing appointment 5 weeks ago, we are still waiting for the idiots in charge to figure out how to assign her test date. With such incredible incompetentency with calendars, I doubt few if any could figure out how to fire someone.
What an incredible burden Government is on people who actually produce things.
Almost as good as being a tenured educational professional. LOL!
I’ve quit producing. Well except for tax dollars. Apparently I’m still producing those. :>)
This should be sub-divided by different departments and agencies. Some like the military, naval and postal branches are more ruthless when it comes to whacking the deadwood. On the other hand places like HHS, Education, EPA are gonna be in ass covering mode as much as possible.
A very large part of the problem is that their are set procedures to terminate an employee but many many managers bungle the process because they are too stupid or lazy to read the effing rules.
One of my relatives was a badge wearing, gun toting Fed who mainly did internal affairs stuff and he collected quite a few scalps. He hated thieves.
The VA will fight a Veteran to the death over a nickel, but will look the other way when a VA executive gets paid $300,000 for moving.
Yesterday, there was an article about how residents of Puerto Rico receive Social Security Disability because they speak Spanish.
Speaking Spanish is a disability.
Just treat the government employees like the government employees treat the Veterans.
Every time there is a pay action like a step increase or a bonus or a move etc...., close out that pay account.
Then, lose all the appeal paperwork and say they are being belligerent.
Turn about is fair play.
Let them go without pay for four years.
Maybe they’ll start to realize that they are our employees.
I knew a guy in Germany, who “built the book” to fire a Federal Employee (Army Reserve Technician position working for the USAR as a civilian but requiring USAR enlistment and assignment to the unit) working for the US Army for failure to perform — The man had abandoned his job/ did not show up for work for over six weeks. When he was present before this episode, he accomplished little other than filling out his time card.
My fellow officer had the guy dead to rights as far as the firing, but he was still not fired. My colleague finally got rid of the guy by having him relieved on the Army Reserve side of the house and booted from the Army for the same issue, which terminated his civilian position.
