If you do not like it here you are always free to leave.

Now that this has been said several times on this thread already, I would like to point out to you the effect that trump is having on not only the republican party base, but the conservative alliances that were developed over a long period of time.

I note that the spokesmen for conservatism, people like Rush and Levin who spend their entire careers teaching listeners what Conservatism means and is, are now under attack and being totally dissed by the trump fans...

Thus, Trump is doing untold damage to the conservative movement. When all this is over, the movement will be much, much smaller and have little or no effect on the politics of this country.

For me, a guy who has spent most of his life walking and talking the conservative life, I find this to be heartbreaking, but on the other side of the coin I understand that it is a symptom of a larger problem, or better said....Social Disease.

A disease I fear that cannot be treated.

Living by conservative principles means different things to different people. Some require 100% conformity to the principles they determine are important, others are less rigid.

So let me just list four principles Trump speaks about in every appearance:
- Strengthening our national defense and treating veterans s they deserve
- Repealing and replacing Obamacare
- Eliminating Common Core and returning education to local control
- Building a wall as a means of enforcing immigration policy.

Are these conservative enough to keep you going? It is for most of us.

Above all, thank you for your cogent response.

I have replied to the well-known bullies on this thread who repeatedly tell any poster who disagrees with their meme regarding Rush to "get out" or "go elsewhere." And quite frankly, I'm sick of it.

The revelation by the NYT of Rush's dalliance with two well-known anti- conservatives to discuss AMNESTY of all things has lead many of Rush's fans to appropriately question his motives. Couple that with his support of Rubio as a full-throated conservative in the Reagan mold and many of his fans now question the depth of his conservatism. Count me as one of those who now question Rush's conservatism as well.

I have listened to Rush since 1988 (NYC) and for the most part have been a daily reader of this thread. After continuously reading a few posters who, on a daily basis, attempt to bully others from discussing Rush's show (for better or worse), I decided to hoist them on their own petard.

Hence: If you do not like it here you are always free to leave.

I read your assessment of Rush but disagree. Rush lied to his audience by omission. The only reason any one learned of his amnesty meeting with Schumer was because Rush got caught. Rush lost his credibility. I hope in time he can restore it. But his dismissing of Trump where none was called for, calling Marco Rubio a Reagan like conservative, and completely overlooking some of Cruz’s tactics, shoe me Rush has feet of clay and deserves to be treated as such.
