Donald Trump on Protester: ‘I’d Like to Punch Him in the Face’

Updated, 7:33 a.m. | LAS VEGAS — In his final rally on Monday before the Nevada caucuses, Donald J. Trump said he wanted to punch a protester, who had been ejected from the event, in the face.

On the eve of what could be Mr. Trump’s third consecutive victory among a fractured Republican presidential field, the protester — the third one to interrupt him at the event and who Mr. Trump said had thrown punches at security guards — really drew the candidate’s ire. As the man was being escorted away, Mr. Trump repeatedly told the crowd that he wished for the “old days,” adding, “You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher.”

“I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell ya,” Mr. Trump added.

Mr. Trump has faced criticism over his response to protesters before. After a Black Lives Matter demonstrator was pushed to the ground at one of his events in November, Mr. Trump said in an interview after the episode that “maybe he should have been roughed up,” before later pulling back from his comments.

But on Monday night, he held nothing back, and the crowd of thousands met every one of his lines with whooping cheers.

Addressing another protester, a man holding a sign that read, “Veterans to Trump: End Hate Speech Against Muslims,” Mr. Trump repeatedly said, “Get him the hell out,” as the crowd booed the man’s exit.

Meanwhile, Mr. Trump denounced Senator Ted Cruz, who earlier in the day fired his communications director for spreading a misleading video with subtitles purporting to show Senator Marco Rubio saying the Bible has few answers. Mr. Rubio, in fact, said the Bible has many answers.

This behavior makes his supporters support him even more strongly. It shows that he ... oh, I forget what, but it does.

Of course, what you’re not reporting is that the protester was throwing punches at members of the audience. A violent thug. Trump is a very tough law-and-order guy. Check out his behavior during the Central Park Jogger case.

Do you want a Patton or a Princess? Because our country is being attacked on several fronts. Wake up.

Guess what...we've all said something similar at some point.

One year ago:

I’m sick of wimpy candidates that just sit there and take it. Democrats are street fighters! When are we going to take off the gloves! If they don’t start punching back we are going to be in CW2! Well I got my gun, and will fight!!!

One year later:

“Trump acts like a thug, and that ought to bother his supporters”

Trumps a big tough guy hiding behind his security and his lawyers.

Gee I love the passive/aggressive nature of the special little snowflakes. Act like an abusive thug and try to disrupt other people political events then whine hysterically when your aggressive bully behavior is met with force.

Don’t act like scumbags, we will not treat you like scumbags.

Trump, and every other candiate, has every right to conduct his events free from the thug behavior of political storm trooper wanna bes.

Saying you want to punch a guy, but restraining yourself from doing it is one thing. Actually doing it would be another thing entirely.

This is much ado about nothing.

Reagan didn’t resort to childish things like Trump does.
Guys who hide behind lawyers and security aren’t tough guys.

I would have liked to punch the thug myself. He's a rude distraction to everyone in attendance who is there to listen to Trump.

There's no difference between that venue and doing the same thing in a theater........
