Republicans are well positioned to win the 2016 presidential contest for a number of reasons: Our economy is soft, a majority of the public is deeply frustrated by the pace of growth and President Obama's job approval rating is stuck in the mid 40's. This is never good for the incumbent party.
What's more, the leading Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, is seen as dishonest and untrustworthy by a majority of the general electorate, especially Independents. On it's face, Republicans should win in November.
But, primaries matter. And, right now the GOP field is too crowded to ensure the party puts forward its strongest, most electable candidate. The bottom line is at least a couple candidates need to drop out after the South Carolina primary.
South Carolina has always played a pivotal role in the party's nominating contests and with the exception of 2012, it has always picked the GOP nominee. The polling in South Carolina has been all over the board. But, it looks like Donald Trump will win Saturday's contest with around 1/3 of the vote.
What happens below Trump will be much more interesting and determinative. There are two buckets of candidates: Ted Cruz and Ben Carson, and three mainstream Republicans, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and John Kasich....

Who praised Barack Obama and his trillion dollar stimulus package? I’ll wait for your answer..
“Jeb needs to stay in.”
That murdering bastard needs to enter a monastery.
Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s no reason to think he wouldn’t once in power.
oh like that’s going to happen... but we can dream, right?
Just like his interview with Cooper and his comments about healthcare..he’s further out there than Kasich.
P.S. after the nomination is settled, I would like to share the things I like about Donald Trump such as response to the Pope that the Vatican is a prize target for ISIS and pointing out that wall he has around it.
Some of us are clear eyed enough to actually see the historic moment we’re living through, as it is.
Your vision is obviously crystalline.
The vision of most will improve to 20/20 in hindsight.
Anyone who thinks this is just about Trump is missing the point totally.
On trade, whether you realize it or not, Bernie Sanders. On the wall, Ted Cruz ran on building a wall as part of his US Senate campaign and pushed it legislatively. Ted Cruz said, “The President should place an immediate moratorium on refugees from countries with a significant al Qaeda or ISIS presence, such as Syria. Iâve introduced legislation to make this happen...” No, Donald Trump isn’t the only one. Pamela Geller endorsed Cruz.
Sure are a lot of new folks on this thread getting us straightened out!
Unfortunately, too many good conservatives are still stuck in a paradigm that has little relevance at this watershed moment in American history.
Frankly, the country is on a pre revolutionary footing. The people are (miraculously) still willing to work within the civil system that was laid down by the Framers, but just barely.
It’s why Trump and Sanders are lapping the competition in their respective races. They represent the mood of the American people, though they’re polar opposite solutions to what ails us.
Obviously, the majority of citizens have had it with Washington and the professional class of parasitic traitors. Anyone who has the slightest association with politics, is being roundly rejected. The more the candidates brag on their records, the more rotten fruit gets tossed at them.
This is the paradigm shift election. The sooner folks come to grips with that, the sooner this primary will make sense to them
Hehehehehe. I think you’ve found the winning strategy!!!
Can’t wait for more ‘Trump has peaked’ and should be in steep decline any second posts. :) (not you)
Well, we’ll see what tomorrow brings us.
Have you been previously banned from the site? Good luck on Saturday night! The Trump Truck is rolling down the road! Teddy Bares will be greatly saddened!
correct
And there buried deep in the article is the real point of so much word soup.
Nice born on date. The Uniparty is desperate.
