SEC-wide:
Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas and Oklahoma all have higher proportions of evangelicals than Iowa. That bodes well for Ted Cruz. (Washington Post)
Texas:
The University of Houston will host a Feb. 25 GOP president debate, televised by CNN. The host and broadcaster had been in flux, and the event was moved back one day. (Texas Tribune)
The mother of Sandra Bland, a Texas woman who died in police custody in a case that made national headlines, will campaign with Hillary Clinton in Chicago. (Associated Press)

He better figure out a way to broaden his appeal outside the zealots or he's toast.
I would print that out wall size if I could.
That is such a great descriptor...
Cruz has a southern twang in his voice and talks about the Bible a lot.
Dumb southern stereotype demand that OF COURSE they will vote for him! Since when do people in the south ever have a mind of their own!
Good point, most people refuse to believe that planet earth is only 6,000 years old.
The “zealots” you say? Are you sure you’re on the right website?
Guess we’ll find out soon enough if Trump winning the evangelical vote in NH was a fluke.
Anti-Southern bigotry rears its ugly head.
Not now. Please, give a rest at least until Antonin Scalia is buried.
Trump pulls support from evangelicals pretty strongly himself, it’s been the source of quite a few puzzled news reports. Cruz doesn’t have a lock on that vote.
Plus the other thing is that there won’t be the hanky panky of the caucuses which makes a yuge difference.
I guess that’s why Trump is leading in almost all the Southern polls. The last I saw Cruz had a small lead in Arkansas and was leading in TX, his home state, by just 4 percent.
Once Trump trounces Cruz and the others in SC, and NV, his leads in all the Southern states will increase, and he may very well regain the lead in AR and TX.
people may be surprised to find out while we do love Christians down here also love us some rebellion if ted thinks he has a cakewalk in the south hes been tricked
RCP paints a mixed bag for Ted at best in the SEC. He leads in Arkansas and Texas, both almost MOE margins. (Oklahoma too, IIRC.)
If SC goes as polled, those slim leads will evaporate quickly.
Time will tell.
Yeah, a high def wallpaper size image would be great.
Why don’t we just change the name to The Evangelical Party and see how that works out in the general election.
Yes, this is where all the fans of 'the face of God' come to commune, right?
What State does Cruz lead in the SEC?
Sure would!
