Humans could evolve webbed feet if sea levels rise, scientist claims

The perils of climate change are well known, but rising sea levels could also alter human evolution, scientists have claimed.

Rising sea levels could force communities to live in underwater or semi-aquatic towns which could change out physiology.

Dr Matthew Skinner a paleoanthropologist from the University of Kent, claims that humans could evolve to have webbed hands and feet and less body hair so they could move quickly through the water.

Our eyes would even become more like cats, so we could see in the murky gloom of seas and rivers and our lungs would shrink as we became used to using artificial tanks to breathe underwater.

"Regular underwater foraging would lead to the evolution of longer fingers and toes which would then likely develop 'webbed' interconnecting skin to enable easier swimming," said Dr Skinner.

What a wonderful tale! And they get millions in research funds, for this.

For those of whose who can’t swim....will it mean the bitter end? Or will we evolve into mountain men? And is there any chance that women will evolve into Kardashian-hybrids?

Yea right. I see so many seals and otters adapted to living in the water and they are all hairless.

Imbecile! They don’t need webbed feet to simply move to higher ground...

Evolution is all blind luck. If humans did develop webbed feet it would not be because of rising sea levels, but due to luck of a random collection of mutations.

This is the kind of BS they teach in high school and lower grades. They make it seem their is some intelligence behind evolution. That nature drives organisms to evolve in a certain way.

Humans already spend lots of time swimming. Why don’t we have webbed feet now? I think this scientist(?) has a kinky foot fetish.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to buy swim fins? And if humans were going to spend as much time in the water as herr professor thinks wouldn’t the development of gills be a handy trait?

Oh, we’ll adapt? Oh, well, that’s all right then.

And to think they claimed the Red Scare was unfounded hysteria.

This “Green Menace” scare is utter bullstalin.

If we are going to a water world where humans live exclusively in the water, how would they manufacture those special suits to wear while living in the water?

I already have my elegant tail, for swimming.

I’m already up on a mountain.

Therefore, I can afford to laugh at this.

Now you know why I dropped wanting to be an Anthropologist. Many of them are batcrap crazy.

Meanwhile, I’m getting out my Red Cross Water Safety Instructor’s badge and manuals. With all these people having to live in flood conditions in the near future, I can make a decent living and buy a big-assed boat to live on.

Liberals will pay three times the going lesson rates because I really don’t want to save their stupid butts, just take their money and run.

Meanwhile, will someone check the sanity of this British profession. I think he’s been eating too many kippered herrings and the fish oils have affected his brain and physiology.
