Eleanor Darragh, mother of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% , was born in Delaware on Nov. 23, 1934, establishing her citizenship by birth-and, according to U.S. law, that of her son, even though he was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Dec. 22, 1970.
The Cruz for President campaign provided Breitbart News exclusively with the birth certificate.

I think you need a different word:
voyeurism
n.
The derivation of sexual satisfaction by watching people secretly, especially when those being watched are undressed or engaging in sexual activity.
n.
The derivation of satisfaction by obsessively watching or following sensational or sordid subjects.
Cruz did not pose for that picture. It was photoshopped.
You’re an idiot. The original intent of the founders on Naturalization and natural born citizens is in the original Naturalization Act written by many of the founders.
Now go back to praising John Marshall and Marbury v Madison genius.
Maybe you should consider that it wasn't acquired at birth which is why it is required.
I read that his mother registered his birth at the US consulate in Canada. And that he needed a US passport in High School to travel on a class trip to England. What was not made clear is if the registration was when he was a tyke or a teen. As he is a statutory citizen it makes no difference in his citizenship here. I think this whole releasing his moms birth certificate is silly as no one questioned if he was a statutory citizen by virtue of her being a US citizen.
Licoln? Really?
The POTUS who negated the 10th Amendment?
Really?
No, I have the right word.
It was corrected in 1795 so yes we do. I realize that facts mean nothing and I am aware that various court decisions have left the meaning unclear, nut if you had asked any 5th grader 50 years ago what an NBC was they would have had no trouble explaining it to you.
Badly written Precedent setting decisions can not change the Constitution and NBC is a special class only applying to the Office of President. What we have now are some conflicting decisions and neither the Congress or the Courts have addressed it and that gives us what we have. Plenty of good conservatives are willing to drop all pretense of Constitutional Conservatism in order to promote their choice, all because if Obama could do it, so can we.
Turn that comment around and tell me why I should trust the others who simply say that one parent is sufficient...
(and, BTW, I support and stump for Cruz).
The law says it’s acquired at birth.
The 14th Amendment has nothing to do with Cruz’ citizenship. As in none Nada, zippo. Why you ask?
Because the 14th Amendment only addresses “all persons born or naturalized in the United States.....”.
Cruz, McCain, Romney, Goldwater etc. We’re neither born in the US nor naturalized. Ergo, 14th need not apply.
Brent Bozell says he’s already in the process of doing so, but hey! What does that rube know, right?
Cruz works tirelessly, going all over to meet the people who actually vote, having conversations with them, while Trump holds rallies in big cities and ignores the work he should have been putting in all along.
Because those rallies feed his ego and give him the attention he thrives on. He isn’t interested in actually getting into deep talk with people...that would reveal he doesn’t have the first damn idea what he’s doing.
Better have your little crying smiley ready to go in a few weeks.
It’s not some green thing with multiple layers?
It must be a fake. < /DNCtalkingpointsmemo >
Oh sthu with the constitutional crap. Trumpswabs support a guy that used the state as a hammer to try and steal some old ladies property for private use and gain. Now where the hell is that in the Constitution? The Trump Self Serving Clause?
I read the same, that there is a CRBA and a passport. I don't doubt that Cruz has US citizenship, and I agree with you, it is citizenship derived by operation of a statute.
I don't think his mother's BC proves the case, without more. 1401(g), the relevant statute, requires her to be a citizen at the time of the child's birth (I think she was, but her BC isn't determinative of her citizenship status years later), and residency in the US (again, i think she has this, but her BC doesn't have evidence of residency). I also don't think showing her BC is necessary. Ted's BC says the same thing that his mother's BC establishes, that she was born in the US.
A CRBA would be conclusive (of citizenship), as it accounts for the relevant factors. A CRBA isn't necessary, because those factors can be demonstrated with other evidence. I think the other (anecdotal) evidence results in finding the conditions for 1401(g) citizenship are met.
I don't think Cruz is a natural born citizen, because his citizenship depends on a statute. He is not "naturally" a citizen, he is a citizen because Congress chose, as it is empowered to do, to grant citizenship to persons who would not be citizens by operation of natural law. Not that my opinion matters, others will decide the issue, and that decision will be based solely on the outcome the deciders prefer, with no regard to precedent.
I guess we each can write our own dictionary.
They might be friendly toward us, but we are decidedly not their friends, so who cares the only reason they haven't faded in to history is our insane oil policy.
My reference to the 14th amendment was to highlight the commentary of Sen. Howard and Rep. Bingham with respect to their definitions of natural born citizen, which they said was a person born on the soil to TWO US citizen parents.
Not true actually, they have done things like letting little Tommy Daschle use some land denying the EPA regs imposed on it and it was not subject to judicial review. So mostly they use that power to line their own pockets. B1 Bomber Bob used to rave on this all the time, he was mostly ignored too. I think he used to say Congress has used that power some 127 times.
