Ted Cruz welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts to his home state of Texas where the performing arts company will kick off its 2016 world tour on Dec. 22 with a performance at Houston's Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts.

In a Dec. 3 letter the presidential candidate and junior senator from Texas writes that he is "very pleased to welcome the members of Shen Yun Performing Arts to Texas" and appreciates Shen Yun for reviving the 5000 years of classical Chinese culture through dance.

"I commend Shen Yun for its portrayal through music and dance, the illustrious history and rich culture as well as the violence and persecution that China has endured," Mr. Cruz writes, "it is an honor to commemorate 5, 000 years of China's heritage. As we mark this period, let us always remember the challenges China has overcome while preserving through those that remain to be faced."

No.

Shen Yun is a dance performance troop associated with Fa Lun Gong who are the only sizable group that is actually standing up to the Chinese communist dictators.

Thanks to both of you. This ought to deflect the anti-Cruz element who thinks he's going soft. It's certain that Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and Jim Robinson are all on a mission from God to restore the principles that define this Republic -- the Holy Bible, the Eternal Word of Almighty God.

Merry CHRISTmas to all Conservatives! Death to islam!

Its a poke in the eye to China.

Why would a politician bother meeting a dance troup, unless that group has some political significance? In China, its considered part of the banned “Fa Lun Gong” who Jiang Zemin cracked down on in 1999.

Good! Atheistic commie Red China needs more than just a poke, it needs to be totally crushed and returned to its rightful status as a third world backwater.

Fa Lun Gong is a pretty weird group. Banned or not I’d not have a lot to do with them. They remind me of the Unification Church of Sung Yung Moon in some ways.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shen_Yun_Performing_Arts

“....Expatriate Chinese Falun Gong practitioners living in North America founded Shen Yun in 2006 in New York. The company’s first tour took place in 2007, when the company comprised 90 dancers, musicians, soloists and production staff. Shen Yun states that its underlying mission is to “revive the essence of 5000 years of Chinese culture”,

which it asserts to have been nearly demolished by the Chinese Communist government.

Initially the shows were titled “Chinese Spectacular”, “Holiday Wonders”, Chinese New Year Splendor, and “Divine Performing Arts”, but now the company performs under the name “Shen Yun.” As of 2009, Shen Yun had expanded to three full companies and orchestras that tour the world simultaneously. By the end of the 2010 season, approximately one million people had seen the troupe perform.”....

We have seen Shen Yun several times.

It’s worth seeing if it comes around, IMHO. They run a different show each year.

The show is a series of performances, and generally there’s one that has anti-communist/anti-government material. They make the point that they’re persecuted in China and the Chinese government has made much of their culture illegal, but they don’t dwell on it.

The rest basically is Chinese cultural/historical themes set to dance and music with amazing costumes. There are two announcers who alternate in Chinese/English explaining the performance which is somewhat interesting.

Because he/she thought it would be damaging to Ted Cruz. That’s her/his MO.

"Wondering why you chose to share this."

He thinks he's being all sly and crafty, posting articles that he believes make Cruz look bad. In reality, though, he's clumsy and transparent.

Awesome. Sounds like Sen Cruz is willing to stand up to the ChiCom bullies - unlike Obama.
