We need to, in part, use the left’s rhetorical tactics, but use them honestly:
“No, I don’t think discouraging conduct that is both a violation of God’s word and the primary means of spreading an incurable and deadly disease is nasty or mean-spirited. I think encouraging young people to engage in actions with a high risk of spreading AIDS is among the most hateful things an adult can do to an innocent child. I think rejecting God’s word (as if our desires were more reliable than His infinite knowledge) is arrogant, and celebrating the rejection of God’s infallible guidance is a cruel abuse of the trust our children place in adults.”
The problem is that we back down in public, and for some parents even in front of our children. We need to articulate why moral behavior is right, and why we trust in the Lord, not just turn the other cheek when facing an attack on our children’s values.
With all due respect, your statement that that clinical psychology has helped NO ONE is absolutely ridiculous.
I get your point about about how flawed clinical psychology is in it’s de-emphasis of the spiritual nature of man.
However, God / Christ based theological immersion does not always adequately address complexity of behavioral problems, personality disorders, abnormal psychology, brain trauma, etc.
Sometimes even the most sincere prayer and faith has poor efficacy.
Should soldiers with war based post-traumatic stress disorder be restricted to only clergy based remedy, prayer efficacy or bust?
Should a childhood rape victim be told to give their trauma to the lord, solely?
Your absolutist statement does align with Scientologists.
God's word says it IS sufficient for the problems that psychology claims to solve. In other words, psychology is the usurper. It was invented by godless, anti-god non-scientists, because it claims to deal with what is NOT material - the mind.
The fact that numerous branches (and there are HUNDREDS) of psychology conflict with each other impeaches it as a true science or true medicine.
How do you know the problem is psychology?
That’s why we have science. Lepers were once considered cursed, not afflicted.
Psychology is barely over a century old. What was the answer for the multitude of believers in the past regarding the "mind" problems that psychology claims to treat?
It’s not desires that are wrong; it’s how a person acts upon them.
