Why would you not consider Erdogan as the loose cannon here? Where do you think IS is finding safe haven? Where do you think IS is sending its plundered oil to be sold? We have a NATO ally aiding and abetting the worldâs worst terrorist organizations and calling on us to defend them?
Sorry if my righteous indignation meter is broken
What a foolish thing for Turkey to do. You can escort foreign planes out of your airspace. You can pull up next to them and fire your guns. Shooting them down and killing a Russian pilot?
Foolish.
I have no great love for Putin. He’s a tinhorn dictator.
But he’s a tinhorn dictator with nuclear weapons.
What a foolish, foolish thing to do.
Yes we took the Patriot missiles out
A bit strange if there was a real concern about Russia coming into Turkey
Or maybe we didn’t want Erdogan to do something stupid and aggressive and trigger us having to respond
This all sounding very “Archduke Ferdinand” d.e.j.a. vous
I would suspect that some of their motivation has to do with a set of wacky Islamic apocalyptic beliefs about Turkey, the Ottoman Empire and the caliphate.
Did Turkey lie or did Putin again go after jato allies on the ground?
What is the truth here.
This all sounding very âArchduke Ferdinandâ d.e.j.a. vous
Thank you
Lavrov cancels planned visit to Turkey
No great surprise this, but Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has cancelled a planned visit to Turkey.
Lavrov was due to visit Ankara on Wednesday for bilateral talks. Turkish officials had insited it would go ahead as planned.
Lavrov, speaking to reporters in the southern Russian city of Sochi, advised Russians not to visit Turkey and said the threat of terrorism there was the no less than in Egypt, where a bomb attack brought down a Russian passenger plane last month.
One of the possible retaliatory measures Russia could take would be ban flights to Turkey, as Moscow did with Egypt after the Metrojet bombing over Sinai last month, writes Shaun Walker. There are dozens of flights a day between the two countries, so such a move would undoubtedly seriously affect trade and tourism.

The U.S. militaryâs recent decision to move its Patriot missile defense system out of Turkey demonstrates Washingtonâs belief that the danger to its ally from the Syrian military has faded, officials said Monday.
Excluding Russian models who want to be brides in the USA?

Do you think that 50 years hence they will refer to these events like the assassination of the archduke in WW1?
Perhaps you should to protect your singular vision of the similarities here to the inception of WW1
Wait, is WW1 also a term over which you claim copyright?

“What a foolish thing for Turkey to do. You can escort foreign planes out of your airspace. You can pull up next to them and fire your guns. Shooting them down and killing a Russian pilot?”
What is foolish is your sophomoric ideas about the rules of engagement. As I have said so many times before, the news reports have said the Russian warplanes have been turning of their transponders to hide their identities, used their weapons’ radar systems to lock-on the Turkish air defense fighter while they were far inside Turkey, and generally threatened to shoot down the Turkish air defense fighters far inside Turkey. You would have to be some kind of congenital idiot to think that air defense fighters who have been threatened like this by the Russian warplanes are going to risk being shot down by trying to approach such hostile aircraft who are refusing to identify themselves as they are conducting combat operations. The Russians were warned to identify themselves, comply with the standard international rules of engagement, not to threaten Turkish air defense fighters, and not to violate Turkish airspace. The Russians refused to comply with international law and suffered the appropriate consequences.
It is also foolish for you to pretend Russia is the innocent victim in this incident. Putin is using the Russian presence in Syria as an excuse to intimidate Saudi Arabia and to attempt efforts to divide and thereby weaken NATO in advance of Russia’s upcoming resumed offensive operations in the Ukraine.
RUSSIA IS GOOD GUY! Turky is Izlamick menace! Gluupi Americanski duraki!
Wow, is that a look of “what the hell am I doing here?” on Obambi’s face??? He is on his way to a breakdown.
“Do you think that 50 years hence they will refer to these events like the assassination of the archduke in WW1?”
Certainly not. The assassination of the Archduke was not the actual cause of the First World War. Kaiser Wilhelm and Germany had long planned and scheduled the onset of the First World War. The final events were used as an excuse for what was already being set underway. British intelligence had an agent/s working for them inside the German general staff, so the British Government was warned a few years ahead of time the details of the German plans for the upcoming war. Winston Churchill used this intelligence to take the British currency off of the gold standard, so Britain could go to the American banks and borrow war funds at discounted prices. After the war was over, the British Government reneged on repayment of the war debts and put British currency back onto the gold standard.
