Actually all it would take would be moving Portland into its own state and the rest of the state would be reliably conservative. I am from the Salem area and our metro area leans right and would balance out Eugene. The rest of the state would more than balance out the few coastal towns and we would have a very conservative state.

How Liberal a population is is generally a direct correlation to how wealthy and prosperous they are. It is no coincidence that the wealthiest parts of the nation are the most Liberal.
