Here’s what I think people are missing:
States and localities ALREADY have contracts, ones they’ve willingly but quietly entered into, in place that OBLIGATES them to accept refugees.
For which they get Federal compensation.
I bet the penalties for breaking those contracts really suck, too.
A while back a FReeper (can’t remember who, unfortunately) described Federal money as the candy Progressives use to lure the unsuspecting into their plain white van.
Nothing illustrates that better than this situation. And it also demonstrates the old adage that people get the government they vote for. Since state and local governments, on behalf of their constituent citizens, have the legal contractual obligation to take these refugees in.
In the words of Trump the states had terrible negotiators if the states do not know where the migrants are being placed in their states. The cry to stop further import of migrants rest with the people and Congress.
