I go to FIVE GUYS for the fries. I’ve never had a bad burger there, but they are overpriced. BURGER STREET is a little cheaper and their burgers always seem hot!
The one closest to me has two speakers with two lines merging at the pay window. I love the big breakfasts and the sausage. I love the scrambled eggs. I think they changed the sausage to beef but I'm crazy about whatever they spice it up with and it's my fav sausage.
I like their fish sandwiches, maybe eat a half order of ff'ries. Sometimes I drench them with my own ketchup.
I was disappointed in the all-day breakfasts because it's mcmuffin, and I only like the sausage and egg biscuits, but English muffins are packaged whereas the biscuits they make fresh and probably wouldn't be feasible to make them all day plus the muffins must be more popular.
And I still drink coke. Any size for a dollar. Haven't had the twisty cones for awhile.
They are close which is why I go there often and could/should get a salad. I will really be sad if they close and wonder who would rent the buildings, if anyone.
“Now those play areas are empty and a McDonalds is likely to be frequented by threatening local toughs with hoodie sweaters, ball caps and “I hate the world” expressions on their face.”
Life is different in the big city, I guess. Nothing like that here although the farm kids wear ball caps also...
AFAIK Ronald McDonald hasn’t been retired, just downsized, but I know of no one else who considers him to be “creepy”. Takes a New Yorker, apparently.
"As you will note, after Mr. McDowell points out that he and the McDonalds people have some sort of misunderstanding, he goes on to note the following differences":
* Theyre McDonalds Im McDowells.
* They have the Golden Arches I have the Golden Arcs.
* They got the Big Mac I have the big Mic.
* My buns dont have sesame seeds on them.
Nah, and I never got a chance (or maybe I did and didn’t see it) to try Tail O’ the Pup or whatever it was called.
Haven’t been to SoCal since about 1996 or so.
DID get to see the Spruce Goose before she left. Still have my pictures of that.
Having some knowledge of McDonalds, I believe Rush is wrong, and the problem is how it is being run. It’s a “damaged brand” in that it’s become a joke, workplace-wise, and that affects all of its workers, from corporate on down.
I don’t know what’s happening. Been having them for the last few years. Of late, yuck. 3 disappointments in a row so now I am skipping.
Liking Arby’s chicken and bacon sandwich with mayo instead of honey mustard. Arby’s ain’t cheap but they’ve really made their restaurants look new (around me, anyways).
Feels like an Arby’s night! /David Puddy - Seinfeld
Their pot roast sandwich was really good - around 10 years ago.
I still DO like McD’s sausage biscuit for $1. Oh well.
In the midwest, we have Freddy’s - they’re pretty good. Greasy, but hey.
I haven’t eaten McDonald’s for other than breakfast for over 20 years. I have a friend who actually gets an allergic reaction to McDonald’s.
Rather than working to make the food hot and fresh for YOU, the staff makes it ahead so it’s easier for THEM.
Then, like Rush says, McDonalds listens to liberal spinsters in Washington who tell them what up-tight liberal spinsters like to eat. Then they don’t eat there...
They embraced lowest common denominator clientele and degraded their product quality to the breaking point. So did WalMart, and both are suffering accordingly.
I don’t think you are supposed to say that here, but you are correct.
.
McDonalds is Vomit!
Always has been.
No wonder you defend them.

That’s the norm today in all food work, but just more obvious in fast food. I’ve worked at several places. It’s the norm in part because people know the proper rules, but secular humanism says nowadays that rules are only to be followed when they make sense to you. If you can’t see any harm, then don’t follow the rules. THAT is how society thinks these days. The respect for rules, all rules in society, has disappeared as “question authority” has taken over. Now it’s a matter of people are to judge the rules and the situation for themselves, and if it doesn’t seem, to someone, like breaking a rule will be harmful, they’ll do it. I also worked in a factory that produced food, and after working there, I pretty much don’t eat much restaurant food. Once having one’s food handled that way, in the factory, is enough for me.
Here’s from a recent article on practices of “better restaurants”:
“when people request a house salad, we use our hands to pick up the vegetables...”
“server uses the same towel to clean the toilets as on the tables...”
“dropped bread rolls on the floor and still served them...”
McDonald’s needs to do three things to reverse the trend.
1. Eatable food - Sad that they cant figure this one out.
2. Service - It sucks and gets worse every year
3. Kill off half the bloated menu and go back to selling what you are. You are a burger joint-not a health food store.
I can’t find a Business Insider article with Rush’s purported headline; in fact, can’t find any article at all of that nature at businessinsider.com
The information came from yahoo, and the supposed headline is simply a quote from a survey form:

That’s why I don’t have a problem with Pay per view. $5.00 for everyone comfortable at home is more appealing than going to the movie theater.
lol. love it!
“I actually recall those 15c McD’s hamburgers in the early 60’s. You could take your girl to the movies and McDonald’s afterwards for five bucks.”
OK, I’ll bite (ha!)
How long did you have to work to make those five bucks?
A double meat Whataburger is about $5 and a free “senior Coke” makes a great meal, and they come around to you for your refills.
Wrong! The first McDonald’s was located in San Bernardino, CA. First franchised store was in Phoenix, AZ. Second in Downey, CA which is still open.
