George W. Bush unleashes on Ted Cruz
Politico ^ | 10/19/15 | ELI STOKOLS

Inside a sleek Denver condominium, George W. Bush let a hundred donors to his brother’s campaign in on a secret. Of all the rival Republican candidates, there is one who gets under the former president’s skin, who he views as perhaps Jeb Bush’s most serious rival for the party’s nomination.

It isn’t Donald Trump, whose withering insults have sought to make Jeb pay a political price for his brother’s presidency. It also isn’t Marco Rubio, Jeb’s former understudy who now poses a serious threat to his establishment support.

It’s George W. Bush’s former employee — Ted Cruz.

“I just don’t like the guy,” Bush said Sunday night, according to conversations with more than half a dozen donors who attended the event.

One donor in the room said the former president had been offering mostly anodyne accounts of how the Bush family network views the current campaign and charming off-the-cuff jokes, until he launched into Cruz.

“I was like, ‘Holy shit, did he just say that?’” the donor said. “I remember looking around and seeing that other people were also looking around surprised.”

“The tenor of what he said about the other candidates was really pretty pleasant,” another donor said. “Until he got to Cruz.”

Bush took a harsh view of Cruz’s apparent alliance with Trump, who stood with the senator at a Capitol Hill rally last month in opposition to the Iran deal. While Trump, the current GOP poll leaders, has attacked most of his competitors in the 2016 field, he has avoided criticizing Cruz.

One donor, paraphrasing the former president’s comment in response to a broad question about how he viewed the primary race and the other Republican candidates, said: “He said he found it ‘opportunistic’ that Cruz was sucking up to Trump

Political experience aside - Cruz is an accomplished lawyer - could be a Ivy league professor or even a Supreme Court judge - that high caliber of intellect.

I would agree that W is probably still upset at Cruz over the Medellin ruling.
FYI, George Bush Sr. actually donated one grand to Cruz’s Senate run.
Made Rove mad at Cruz when he found out, because the GOP was backing Dewhurst.
Cruz did not solicit the donation from George Bush Sr.

Cruz also voted for Iran deal when it needed 60 votes to stay alive and against it when it needed only 51 to pass. Is that not what many of us yelled about of Kerry? He was for it before he was against it. So not sure Cruz can be trusted either. Right now I’m with Trump or Carson. No Bush, Rubio or etc. Not sure Cruz is as conservative as he wants us to believe…..remember many thought Rubio was but look at him now…..telling US Citizens on thing and spanish speaking another. We all need to watch what they do not what they say….words R cheep let not get taken just yet…..

This settles it, when I get my paycheck on Friday another donation to Cruz. It means less beer, but I’ll make it.

Whatever the cause, we paid for it.

Would have been nice, no Bush from our side.

Ted fought against him in the SC when George tried to make us subject to the laws of the International Court in the Menendez case. Apparently George must hold a grudge.

He cannot bring himself to say a bad word about the criminal Clinton family nor about the Marxist who is destroying our country. It wouldn’t be “presidential”. When it came to defending against the lies of the left in the WOT he was silent. But for a conservative like Cruz he finds his voice.

The further away from his presidency we get the less and less respect I have for the man. I never could figure out the love fest this family has with the Clintons. His true colors have revealed themselves.

Oops, correction needed. It was the Medellin case NOT Menendez. My bad.

H1-B is legal immigration and for those who will work and not be a public liability. I don’t know of any candidate that has not declared they are for LEGAL immigration.

Are you making a distinction between legal and ethical? It was legal to discriminate against Jews in Germany in 1935 too. It’s legal to confiscate your property should you discriminate against gay people.

H1-Bs were cooked up by politicians to wreck the middle class in exchange for PAC money.

If Cruz is for H1-Bs, then he’s unelectable. Period. The top ten issues in this cycle are immigration, or immigration related.

And no law should be a suicide pact. Whither Sweden?
