Forget the debate: Two simple reasons a Republican will likely win in 2016

Elections are not mysterious events subject to the whimsy of unpredictable candidates and voters. They’re actually highly predictable, with a set of variables that influence outcomes in familiar ways.

Because of that, we can say, with reasonable confidence, that a Republican will be moving into the White House in 2017.

Naw, they ain’t gonna win. They always find a way to blow it to a liberal, progressive, commie, socialist from the dimocrat party of slimeballs. Hillary, the commie Sanders, John “Vietnam Vet” Kerry. Any one of them will beat a RINO from the Rinocrat party.

That conclusion is based on the results of a data model we created, and is primarily the result of two factors, both related to the challenges faced by “successor” candidates — candidates from the same party as the incumbent. First, a Republican will win because voters typically shy away from the party currently in power when an incumbent isn’t running. In fact, a successor candidate is three times less likely to win. Second, President Barack Obama’s approval ratings are too low to suggest a successor candidate will take the White House.

Certainly, but I'm confident that if there's a way to lose, the GOP will find it.

Wait, does this model assume there are free and clean elections?

Does it also assume a free and unbiased media?

Does it work in “elections” in oligarchies or monarchies?

Also, the model only need look at the 1-3 swing states Hillary needs in the Electoral College. If she wins FL, or OH and any other medium swing state, it’s over.

Even though Obama never gave me my pony, I know I will get it once one of these Democrats is elected.

I’ve said all along that I think it probable that the Republican nominee will “win” the election in 2016, because Obama Democrat fatigue among the voters is so huge.

I said that in the last election, but he still won. Even though I don’t know a single person who voted for him in 2012. I think between corrupt media, voter fraud, and possible rigging of the GOP nomination process to intentionally nominate a candidate who can’t win, we are likely to get screwed once again.

“Voters no longer vote based on reason because we have become an irrational country.”

Ain’t that the truth!

“Voters no longer vote based on reason because we have become an irrational country.”

Our education system doesn’t teach thinking or logic any more, on purpose.

If the GOP doesn’t do something to address things like student loan debt, the immigration problem, the social security shortfall, and the fact that the largest employer in the country uses the State to provide most of the benefits and a good portion of the wages (Wal-Mart), then not only will they lose, we will have a full communist state.

Very smart take and good article.
Polls are way too unpredictable this far out. Plus pollsters are having a much harder time getting respondents because so much of the nation is mobile.

Also glad to see an article I haven’t seen 6 times. Some have forgotten to use the search feature before posting.
Good job on your first.
We’re almost twins. I started on FR in 2003.
Glad you’re here!

“It will take a tidal-wave election, in the mode of 1980, to blow up the DC Political/Media/Business machine but it can be done. That is why the “outsiders” candidates like Trump/Carson/Cruz are doing so well. People are looking around and saying “this is not the country I want for my kids”.

Well said, and I 100% agree.
We haven’t had an election with these types of candidates, making this much headway since 1980.
I too agree that Americans as a whole are fed up with the direction of the country.
We were in 2012 also, but Romney inspired no one except Ann Coulter.
It’s her book that proves all the Republican candidate needs to do is pick up 7% more of the white vote, and they win a landslide. Let’s call it 8% to account for illegals voting.
Much different feeling this time.

Cycles of elections tend to show a DUmocrat gets a run of several years of economic destruction, then along comes a republican just in time to get the blame when the consequences materialize.

2 reasons they won’t. The 47% is now 52% and voter fraud which at least 5% of the demo vote.

General Buck Naked could win the white house in 2016

“Well, regardless of WHY a Republican wins in 2016, the important thing is that one wins. Our country simply cannot tolerate or survive another clueless dem (dim) Prez.”

Well put.

Except that Trump is the ultimate establishment candidate. His whole career has depended on it.
