A mother is refusing to back down from calls demanding she remove a tiny flag hanging in her window in honor of her military son on tour in the Middle East.

One would think this would exempted in any HOA.
I checked, and Hatfield is near Philly. It figures.
I hope the H.O.A. pig who complained is exposed for All America to see.
One more reason to NEVER buy in a H.O.A. neighborhood. Retired Government Goons become regulation Nazis.
Mom need to find a patriotic former veteran attorney willing to go pro bono, who will send a letter back to the HOA claiming this is political speech.
HOA rules do not apply to political speech.
Sounds like these “neighbors” need the flaming-bag-of-dog-poop-on-the-front-porch treatment.
The people who run for office in HOA’s are generally (not always, but often) the worst sort of petty tyrants always looking for ways to cause grief for their neighbors.
HOA = Yard NAZIs................
If you buy a house or a condominium and they are governed by a homeowners association, read the fine print and beware. Just like our branches of government, they work well in the hands of decent, moral people. In the hands of wannabe tyrants who want everyone to dance only to the tunes that they like, well...
I have known many people who ran afoul of a clique in their neighborhood, and when members of the clique were elected to the homeowners association things got ugly. For some.
When we bought our house, I specifically told the real estate agent: NO HOA’s are even considered. He understood..............
Since when is 8” x 14” “tiny”? And yes, i fully support her. I was just picturing a REALLY tiny flag when I clicked the article.
Somebody needs a serious ass kicking. It’s amazing the stories of the power trips HOW board members go off on.
She’s a blue star mother. She’s earned the right to hang it.
It’s the size of a sheet of legal paper. Compared to a typical 3’ x 5’ flag, it’s pretty tiny, roughly 1/16 the usual size. If someone gave me an order of french fries 1/16th the usual size, i’d say that’s tiny.
I’m getting tired of hearing about this kind of sheet all over the country. We are in need of a deep, thorough cleansing from coast to coast.
I’m glad I live in rural, conservative America where neighbors mind their own business unless you need help. When you need help is when they show up at your door. The DemocRATS’ “Balkanized” America REALLY sucks!
Hatfield is near Philly.....Hatfield is a lot different from Philly. I’m surprised, but not shocked, by this HOA.
I’d love to see the language in the HOA that prohibits this display. Even if there is some silly language, the fact that the HOA have been silent about it for a year presents some legal issues for the HOA.
The article says that “the authorities”. An HOA is no authority, they have a set of codicils to which all home owners agree to follow.
The banner was designed by the U.S. Government in World War I specifically for display in the home of a family with some family member serving. One Blue Star is displayed for each serving family member. When one of those family members fall in action, a gold star is affixed over the Blue Star. It is not a flag, again the specific language of the HOA would have to restrict a window decoration. Is a paper pumpkin allow in a window? If so, this lady can tell the HOA to stuff it.
