An interesting approach.

Interesting approach for a gun grabber. Well regulated does not mean what he thinks it means.

Sorry just Gun Control with a clever twist. A seriously moronic idea.

I don’t believe the Second Amendment was added in order to force me to be a member of the Militia but rather that I could be a member of the Militia.

Yep.

Interesting to tyrants.

I actually support the idea of a truly well-regulated (functioning properly) militia. We don’t have one today.

The totalitarian leftist scumbag author reveals his hand when he wants to draft everybody, inventory everything, and imprison YOU (or, at least, me) for not complying.

Bastard.

“the obvious interest of knowing the quantity and quality of arms” ... Obvious indeed. The guy really has a totalitarian mindset.

By using the description the founders used we are already a militia.

An interesting approach.

Only interesting if you're a person who believes that the power of the state should be absolute, and that the Bill of Rights is really a Bill of Privileges that are extended to the citizens by the government and can be taken away by the government for any reason. Otherwise it's supportive of a totalitarian police state.

No it’s not. I forget what FReeper I got this from, but it lives on my FR profile page:

The term “regulated” applied to clocks means “accurate in keeping time”. It made sense, particularly in 18th Century armies, to have to pay a lot of attention to how well soldiers could operate in massed formations. Soldiers had to be drilled to load, aim, and fire as one unit. You do NOT want the rifle next to you to be firing (and emitting a shower of sparks) while you are pouring gunpowder into your musket. Everybody had to do every step together with no screwups.

And in any case, it’s a prefatory clause that still doesn’t change the fundamental meaning of “the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
