In a classroom exercise that has ignited outcry from the public, students at a Texas high school were given a questionnaire asking if their families owned guns, why their families owned guns and how their parents lean politically.
Called The Hawk 2015 Gun Survey, an estimated 100 students in a journalism class at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville, Texas were given the survey in an attempt to start a dialogue on the Second Amendment. Instead, parents and Second Amendment activists across the country labeled the survey as invasive.

I live in Texas (having escaped from the Peoples Democratic Republic of Neu Jersey), and I am simply stunned at how many people moving here ask me, “So, where do I register my guns?” They are equally stunned when I tell them, “Listen, Texas is in America - we don’t register guns here.”
“I also think it’s the Hussein administration putting out feelers before he goes all in in attempting to abrogate our Second Amendment rights. I believe that in his remaining time, undermining the Second Amendment is going to be one of, if not the priority, of his administration.
Not everyone can afford private school. They are really expensive. Those who cannot afford private school generally must work to put food on the table and a roof over the family's head.
You evidently live in a dream world.
It is far better to adjust the school's behavior than to roll over and play dead.
I think that the person/teacher/administrator/political operative who handed this survey out to students under the guise of a learning aid for classwork should be publically named.
Parents, tell your children not to partake in surveys seeking private information on them or the family.
I wish my daughter would come home with one of these. I believe in hyperbole.
I recall from the history of the USSR and the Warsaw pact that children were encouraged to inform on their parents.
It was so bad that parents had to be very careful in choosing when they should start teaching their offspring the truth about #Socialism.
If they did that too early the child would inform on it’s parents and they would be taken away never to be seen again.
But they bloody well had free healthcare and 100% literacy!
If someone asked me to answer something like this when I was in high school my daddy would have shown up with a shotgun at the principal’s office.
“You evidently live in a dream world.”
Yes and no. Obviously I don’t know your precise situation, but I have some idea for my neighbors and friends - and it SICKENS ME to hear them complain about public schools, while still living a lifestyle that is WELL BEYOND what is necessary for their kids. Some of them COULD EASILY sacrifice a bit to protect their kids from public schools...but that simply appears to be a LOWER PRIORITY for them.
People are welcome to put their LIFESTYLE above what happens to their kids...I just get sickened by it...so don’t take it personally, because it’s not meant to be that way, and I do know that conservatives tend to NOT be as rich as liberals - so there are quite a few that really have no choice - but then there are quite a few more that actually do have a choice.
Send a survey home to the kids of fat parents asking how many forks or spoons they have. Just as rational.
“It is far better to adjust the school’s behavior than to roll over and play dead.”
Do you REALLY BELIEVE that you can control decisions made by your schools, when you don’t even pay for them (as far as they’re concerned)? If so, you will learn a lot, the hard way.
I'm 66 years old. I know quite a lot about "Imperial Entanglements".
Recently I learned how to have some influence in the school system. The County is now in the process of equipping a wonderful machine shop to my specifications so that I can teach high school kids how to build robots AFTER HOURS. It turns out that there are very good people within school systems, it just takes time to learn who they are and to gain their confidence.
Weird things do go on in schools; however, there are many within who wage our battle in subtle ways. I have learned first hand that an old conservative curmudgeon like myself can influence school decisions in significant ways. Also, my very non-PC approach has endeared me with my insiders.
Government schooling is fundamentally evil. It violates all the First Amendment Rights of the children ( speech, press, assembly, and free exercise of religion) and the children in these schools risk learning to be comfortable with government tyranny. The religious worldview taught in these schools is atheistic secular humanism. The children will learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise?
And...Please remember, that it only took one to three generations of socialist-entitlement and government cartel schooling to give the nation Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. With each generation of government schooling the nation deteriorates further.
The reason the creeping crud got as far as it did is SOLELY because conservatives just bitch about it. Blog, blog, blog, bitch, bitch, bitch. Surrender, surrender, surrender.
Get off you collective asses and do something. Hint: voting doesn't help anything. Roll up your sleeves and reach into the shit pile. I have proven that one person can make a remarkable difference. Just imaging if all of you butt-sitting bloggers would actually take some action, however individually small!
I find this not to be the case. This is YOUR government. Take some responsibility for the mess YOU created through apathy and non-participation.
And...Bob L is right. Parents just don't want to downsize.
All government K-12 schooling across this nation is godless in its worldview ( by law). The children in these classrooms must think and reason godlessly just to cooperate. How could it be otherwise?
All government K-12 schooling is compulsory unless a parent can pay the ransom to privately school their children or home school. The children in these government compelled schools eventually figure this out and are at risk of learning to be comfortable with government compulsion.
All government K-12 schooling suppresses free speech, free press, free assembly, and free exercise of religion. Both private and government schools must do this to maintain order. Unfortunately, when government does this the children risk learning to be comfortable with the government trashing their First Amendment Rights ( human rights).
This can NOT be fixed because it is fundamental to the very system of compulsory-cartel and monopoly-socialist-entitlement schooling.
I did something significant. I homeschooled three children for their entire K-12 education. That adds up to depriving the local government gulags of approximately $5,000/ year/ child for 12 years. And....My efforts were certainly significant for these individual children.
That adds up to $180,000. That is what the local schools would have received in tax funding had my kids had been warming the seats.I call that significant.
GingisK, there are whole counties and even whole states where the government K-12 system could immediately implode and utterly collapse All that is needed is for Christians and conservatives to immediately remove their kids from this **evil** system.
Finally,....Entrenched and intractable institutions can lose their legitimacy seemingly overnight. Some examples are the Protestant Reformation, the American Revolution, slavery, and Jim Crow. Compulsory, socialist-entitlement, godless, and government cartel K-12 schooling is not immune.
Yep! I agree. Get off your duff and remove your children from the government K-12 gulags.
