Real estate magnate Trump has spent weeks dominating the Republican field, and has emerged as a credible White House candidate for many voters in Iowa, the first crucible of the 2016 nominating contest.
But with Carsons stellar showing in a series of recent polls in Iowa and nationwide, and another survey showing Senator Bernie Sanders nipping at Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clintons heels, the second-place candidates are exhibiting considerable power on the campaign trail.

Iowa likes the deeply religious.
Another recent convert to the GOP with some questionable views
oh the same death stare obama has? Eight years of that is enough for me.
This is one of the most depressing things I’ve read in awhile. I can’t believe voters would seriously consider electing Ben Carson or Saunders. Maybe we do deserve to be destroyed.
While he would make a great Surgeon General I don’t think he would make a good president
You are comparing Carson to Obama. Really?
Not even close. I like him, but he isn’t in the same league as an executive as Trump is. Not even close.
That’s a pretty good observation
The Surgeon General has little clout in public policy. Carson ought to be appointed as a counter-czar to bring the AMA and other medical organizations into sync with our founding principles, beginning with LIFE. De-license abortionists from medical practice while barring their proponents from the levers of self-government. The entire medical community needs an overhaul in terms of ethical and legal standards. Take the Hippocratic Oath, refine it, and make every practitioner of medicine not only swear to it, but be held accountable to it.
Last week at the sunset market in O=side, the deems were registering voters. I told them they were in trouble. Their top candidate is a career criminal, their second is a full blown socialist and their third is a clown (JoBi). The guy was speechless. The woman pulled him away so I couldn’t bite him.
I’m okay with Carson although Cruz is my pick.
But I have my hands far to busy stopping Jeb, Christie, Perry, and Rubio to have any time to worry about a far less disastrous candidate like Trump.
He’s a friend of black racist Al Sharpton.
I will never vote for him or for Paul Rand.
I judge people by the company they keep.
I do hope Ben Carson comes out winning. Many good Presidents have been good, humble, Christian men.
I'm sorry to bump into this Trump love-fest, but you do realize your candidate has had three wives and four bankruptcies?
What could Dr. Carson possibly have to compare with that?
I’ll double down on my statement too. We shouldn’t consider it too early to think about all the other races, from statehouses to congress. This is shaping up to be a tea party election wave. Many first time candidates could have a chance this election.
He only 'had' two wives, not three.
He now has a third wife.
He's never declared bankruptcy. But you knew that, you just like to claim it was Trump himself.
If you watch his Nashville speech, you will get a glimpse of how one of his companies did declare bankruptcy.
Very briefly, he tried to help a friend save a struggling company, calling his friends bank to try to help work things out. The bank refused to budge, so Trump bought the company, tried to save it once more, the bank, very foolishly, again refused. So Trump, having just saved his friend, did the legal, logical thing, had the company declared bankrupt.
Are you sure he's had 4 personal bankruptcies?
3 wives.. Same as me.
I'm for Cruz, but I like accuracy.

Carson won’t win the nomination just because he can deliver a joke and because some Republicans need to say to Democrats “our black is better than your black”. It’s not enough. Let’s see how he holds up when he gets tested.
Also, I suspect the GOPe (i.e., the money men) figure that he’s enough of a political novice that he can be controlled (at least compared to Trump). That they (the GOPe) are warming to him, a total novice, just shows how bad things are going for them.
There ya go, we need a leader not a nice guy doctor.
He NEVER declared bankruptcy; he used that law/escape valve for his businesses...which you don't understand.
OTOH.....we actually know very little about Carson and don't tell me that his life is an open book/he wrote a bio; nobody knows IF there are things that aren't public. Remember Herman Cain ?
Re divorce......Reagan was elected at a time when it was unheard of, for divorced and remarried man won elections.
