Here’s all you need to know about why Trump is the next President, in two quotes:
Howard Fineman: “the party that is out there waiting to be born. It is a yet-to-be-defined mashup of Black Lives Matter; pro-immigration activism; non-European cultural consciousness; tolerance of all religions, lifestyles and genders; genuine urgency about the fate of the planet; confidence in technology, social media and the sharing economy...”
George Will: “The white percentage of the electorate has been shrinking for decades and will be about 2 points smaller in 2016 than in 2012. If the Republicans’ 2016 nominee does not do better than Romney did among nonwhite voters, he will need 65 percent of the white vote. Romney did even slightly worse among Asian-Americans than among Hispanics. Evidently minorities generally detected Republican ambivalence, even animus about them.”
The enemy’s great weakness is overconfidence. Despite shrinking on a percentage basis, the white population is still a huge majority, so much so that only 65% of us can dominate an election. If we voted like blacks, we would rule the nation in perpetuity.
Howard Fineman’s fantasy and George Will’s nihilism will both push whites to bloc voting. After that, the “inevitable future” won’t happen, and the “party waiting to be born” will be aborted.
Ditto!
“Well, if any 80s metal heads are still kicking, hell get their vote too.”
All the headbangers were settled into Detroit during Michigan Governor Granholm’s “Cool Cities” program back in 2004. The Guv refitted old factories into Cool City apartments and all the headbangers moved in. Two years later, they were all robbed and shot dead by Clinton’s Midnight Basketball League.
Don’t you guys keep up with the news?
:)
I could not agree more.
I'm not a Trump supporter, at all. I do not trust a lifelong pro-choice, pro-Hillary Dem who is suddenly good salesman at telling people what we want to hear. We want to hear these things (border wall, strong defense, etc) so badly that some believe that HE believes what he says.
He does not, one most strongly suspects.
That said, I do love the debate being shifted where it belongs, and amnesty for illegal aliens no longer a "gimmie", and Jeb inching out on the financial plank. I credit Trump's fake GOP run for this, and it's a good thing.
.
Of course this is the royal “one.”
I have to be more humble about it and say I really can’t know for certain the long term outcome, but it also looks like forces have gripped the Trump candidacy that are greater than Trump and inclined to better foresight.
I.e. there is a God thing happening here. Trump does not need to be a believer himself to be found in the center of such a whirl wind.
All those candidates would make up a fine Cabinet, even several would make excellent 'stand-in' presidents...their talents would be wasted as V.P. but maybe not...IMHO....
The king-making abilities of the GOPe consultants have been snatched right out of their arms. That is just way cool. I have no idea who is going to end up as the contender for our side, but I got my popcorn bowl close at hand.
