Slain Reporter's Father: I Want More Gun Control
Truth Revolt ^ | 8/28/15 | Paul Bois

Once again, the left has exploited the ruminations of a grieving father to push gun control.

In an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo Thursday, Andy Parker, the father of slain WDBJ journalist Alison Parker, demanded that his daughter's death at the hands of a murderer may be a cause to bolster politicians into passing more gun control laws.

"If I have to be the John Walsh of gun control and -- look, I'm for the Second Amendment, but there has to be a way to force politicians that are cowards and in the pockets of the NRA to come to grips and make sense -- have sensible laws so that crazy people can't get guns. It can't be that hard," said Parker in reference to John Walsh, the man who created America's Most Wanted.

Parker also demanded that politicians get to work passing this gun legislation right away rather than giving him time to grieve.

"[P]oliticians from the local level to the state level to the national level, they sidestep the issue. They kick the can down the road. This can't happen anymore," he said. "And I know that the NRA, their position is going to be -- I can hear it now. They're going to say, 'Oh gee, well, if they were carrying, this never would have happened,'" Parker said.

"I've got news for you. If Alison or Adam had been caring an AK-47 strapped around their waist, it wouldn't have made any difference," he continued. "They couldn't have seen this thing coming. So I don't want to hear that argument from the NRA, and you know that's going to happen. And I'm going to take it on."

Andy Parker's statement echoes similar statements made by Richard Martinez, the father who lost his son during a shooting near the University of Santa Barbara in 2014. Both have now been used by the left to push gun control.

You really think people are going to surrender their guns--the only protection they have--to a government that refuses to protect them and their families from this sort of violence?

You really think they're going to do that?

Mock the father and boyfriend.

Sorry. I will point out the error of his ways, but that man, those men, must be feeling grief right now most of us thankfully never will. I will not be so quick to judge them, but will roundly damn those who seek to gain political points by his daughter's horrible death.

Notice, no one is calling to ban homosexuals, black (anti-white) racists, or nutcases, and the murderer was all three.

The guy, in that situation could have easily used a knife.

A machete, a sledgehammer, a chainsaw, any number of devices which also serve as tools but can be used as overwhelming weapons could have been used to similar effect.

I am so sorry for your loss Andy. But your grief stops where my rights begin.

Violent, crazy people should be locked up, not roaming the streets so that they can kill innocent people with guns or knives or hammers or cars or bare hands.

Agreed.

It was the left that ended insane asylums and dumped tens of thousands of crazies on the streets and make it almost impossible to lock up violent, mentally ill people.

Yep. and if they ever call to have the 'crazies' locked up, they will be coming for Christian conservative (predominantly Caucasian) gun owners.

Be careful who gets to define who is nuts, because the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

How about banning all this stupid “micro-agression liberal PC crap” that clearly led to the “MACRO-Agression” carried out by a clearly deranged Piece of Shiite

pathetic wastes of oxygen...

Too much of a punk to admit that the problem was his daughter's whiteness.

Don't feel outrage at the murderer who wanted to kill white people, because that uncomfortable fact requires courage.

I haven't heard a peep from Richard Martinez since about the third day after that incident. I believe he's a criminal defense lawyer by profession, and I suspected all along that a close look at his work would reveal that he has put untold numbers of people at risk by getting violent clients back on the street through plea deals and other legal dealings.

I agree that mentally ill people that can’t even figure out which sex to be attracted to shouldn’t be given guns.

If this guy really wants to be effective he should be pushing for more funding for Planned Parenthood so they can do a better job of keeping mutants like that speckled homosexual black man out of the gene pool.

/only partial sarcasm here/

That is a very good, very sensitive letter. Send it to him directly. You might get attacked if you do, however.

as a cameraman, i have learned to keep both eyes open as to see more than just what i am taping, as to not miss more interesting visuals...

it has also been said that more guns would not have saved the two victims... i disagree... someone other than the two victims might have been able to stop this jerk if they were carrying.

“He lost his daughter.”

The average dad in his circumstance would be too heart sick to jump on the gun control bandwagon, which he did almost immediately. And to blame a gun would not even enter the minds of most dads.

I saw this interview also. The night of. Actually it looked like that afternoon. I thought to myself, if I had lost my daughter in such a horrific way, I would not be able to speak to any reporter probably for days. Heck, when I lost my Mom to cancer, I could barely speak to my own family initially without at least tearing up, sometimes breaking down completely, at least for the first week after we lost her.

More gun control would not have saved you daughter. But it might possibly get someone else’s daughter killed. Is that what you want?

Another person on site with a gun might at least have distracted the shooter so that his shots missed the mark even while taking a couple of rounds himself.

The really dangerous weapons are the race baiter’s who give ammunition to these crazies to fight a race war. He can thank the Baltimore government, and the Ferguson crowd.

Precisely.

As we were watching the interview, I looked over at my wife and told her I could not imagine going on national television to be interviewed the very same day that my daughter had been brutally murdered.

It's not for me to judge his behavior, but I'm guessing if it were me, I would most likely be locked in a room somewhere sobbing my eyes out...not pushing gun control on Fox News.
