The presumption is that not expressing deep emotions in public is suspicious, evidence of a lack of empathy.
It indicates a more porous definition of self and lower social boundaries than what has existed historically.
Such people are easily manipulated. They are more likely to rely on social proof than solid argumentation. They will be shocked when they are mugged by their own gullibility.
