I, along with several of my brothers, would take up positions outside the freshman women’s dorms on check-in day and offer to help carry their stuff in as a courtesy.
The young ladies thought we were wonderful, and it got us off on the right foot with their parents, as well.

That’s what my son’s fraternity does. They help freshman, girls move in. Their sisters do the same thing for the boys. Since the dorms are co-ed it makes the kids transitions easier and less intimidating.
My son’s freshman year we brought him up to school to help him move in and get adjusted. Turned out my wife and I as well as my son’s roommates parents set up the room and the boys were already downstairs helping out the freshman girls.
They figured it out quick.
