I know. I saw several people wearing the special T shirts at HyVee on Sunday, and I almost started sobbing right there in the checkout line. It is “personal” to almost everyone around here, don’t you think?

Hundreds of supporters along the route of the procession unfurled white sheets with a blue line across them, to shield mourners from a handful of protesters from Westboro Baptist Church....

About 200 members of the Nebraska and Iowa Patriot Guard lined 24th Street holding American flags...

Thank you, PGR!

Orozco’s fellow officers will surround her at the service. Officers from the north gang unit will serve as honorary pallbearers, and a number of local law enforcement agencies will carry out police duties so that Omaha officers can attend the funeral....

When this shooting was first posted on FR, there were several people who questioned the newspaper report that stated the killer used a Glock with a drum magazine.

They had pictures of it this weekend and the newspaper was correct. It was a Glock (exact model number unknown). The magazine was an aftermarket drum magazine. The slide was jammed back when it was dropped.

I have seen a few drum magazines for Glocks and they were supposed to hold 50 rounds. The killer did not shoot 50 rounds, so I think it was a jam rather than locked back empty. The only ones I have seen were 9mm, but they may be available in other calibers.

The newspaper in this town has an editorial policy like other big-city newspapers — guns bad, ban guns. However, they seem to do a good job of making identifications. I just wish they would make a point of saying in their articles that the guns were illegally obtained. The killer here was a convicted felon, so he could not have gotten it legally.

The police officer was shot from the front just above her body-armor. It went through her body and was trapped between her body and the back of the vest. The bullet cut a major artery and she bled out quickly. The sister of the killer attacked the other policemen (hitting and spitting on them) after her brother was shot, shouting that she hoped the “stupid cop” died painful death. She was taken into custody and, unfortunately, was not shot.
