ISIS is not unlike the Mongol hordes; they must constantly move and attack.
“In 1918-1920, the Western allies won many victories against the Bolsheviks, defeating the Red Army in Estonia, Odessa and Siberia. Yet the allied forces were never able to follow up with a successful drive into the heart of Bolshevik power.”
This statement is incorrect. Estonia was not won by the Western Allies, it was won by the Estonians with help from the defeated Central Powers forces of the German Freicorps. Odessa was occupied by French, Italian, and Greek troops after the withdrawal of German and Austrian forces. The Western Allies provided very little to the White Army and its Don Cossack allies on the Southern Front. Siberia was occupied by mainly Japanese forces with American troops sent to Vladivostock to keep Japan in check as priority one, not fighting the Bolsheviks. The best book on the Russian Civil War that I recommend is “The White Generals”.
ISIS may well be more dangerous to civilization than the Bolsheviks. ISIS has a defined faith with rewards after life promised to its adherents. The Bolsheviks were burnt out rather quickly and replaced by an stifling autocracy even while Lenin lived.
