Federal officials this weekend revealed the train that crashed Tuesday, killing 8, was one of two struck by objects that day.
Investigators are now looking into the possibility the doomed train's windshield was struck in the moments before the crash.
Amtrak, meanwhile, has been ordered to expand speed-restriction system in area of derailment in Philadelphia.
NTSB investigators, however, said Sunday that no communication from the train indicated it had been hit by an object.

a bullet as big as a grapefruit!. The train is going at 106 mph goes off the tracks and there are trees, rocks and whatever other objects going flying. here is the scenario - as the train goes off the track, the train also strikes a small brick embankment, there are trees and rocks alongside the trackside. there is so much debris flying that window is struck by a grapefruit size rock as it continues on down the trackside till it stops. Because another track stated there was a projectile that hit another commuter train in the area. It is now the MO the train was struck by a projectile. BS!
OK, I just watched a video of one of these (apparently the same locomotive involved in the crash) pulling 8 empty Amfleet cars. 0 to 106ish took just under two minutes. 70 to 106ish (1:18 mark of the video to the ~2:08 mark) took just under a minute.
what I considered the start time is when the blue gauge on the left of the readout panel started rising.
My guess is that this train was loaded heavier than the one in the video, so the numbers are probably skewed in the locomotive’s favor in the video.
If it was an act of terrorism would our government try and cover that up if it could?

Has nothing to do with the speed of the train unless the phallic obsessed engineer was dodging bullets. Someone wants to divert attention from the engineer.

Now if they can come up with why the train went from 80mph to 106mph in 1 minute besides already being 30mph over the 50mph speed limit in the first place.
How are they to explain that away?
So it is possible that a strike to the windshield could cause the engineer rotate away towards the rear pulling the throttle to the rear, thus the increase in speed.
I caught a big chunk of ice while passing a tractor trailer truck on I-95. Probably 16” diameter and a few inches thick. Hit the windshield flat right in the center. Scary. About 1/4 of the windshield was smashed but nothing penetrated, fortunately.

My theory of what happen is what happened to the Germanwings flight.
I would not be surprised if Brandon enginequeer knew the pilot of Germanwings.
Instinct would tell anyone in that situation ( if ? It did happen, as they are bull crapping us ) would be to slow down and get off the road as quick and safely as possible, not speed up.
Remember the rated speed could have been with no load, but you are correct, it takes a while to move that much weight behind you.

I made a few follow-up posts to my original. There is a video I linked to upthread where the same exact locomotive that was involved in the crash was being tested with 8 cars attached. It took just under a minute to accelerate from 70MPH to 106 MPH. About 2 minutes from 0 to 106.
Those trees would most likely be on the side of the tracks when the train derailed.
Most likely poison suamock trees with the oval shaped leaves.

The damage to the engine and windshield is consisnant of it derailing hitting a few catenary line poles, hitting those poison suamock trees that grow on the side of those tracks.
What the eye witnesses saw and heard was the train hitting the catenary line poles, the explosion, or rather sparks from more than 10,000 volts from the electricfied copper catenary lines being pulled down from the force of the poles falling, snapped, hit the ground and other metal objects, hitting the windshield like a whip.
Other objects like rocks, the insulators hitting the windshield caused that damage.
The front window pillor was damaged from the force of the train hitting the catenary line poles, damaged the right side of the train causing deep gouges, srapes on it’s right side.
No projectiles hit that engine other than the catenary copper lines, the electrical insulators, and ballest rocks from the rail bed.
They are lying to us to protect this enginequeer.

We know a retired medical person, who does something similar re local obits.
This person’s flag is a death of a male between 35-45, not married or a male partner is listed. Reading of the obit, often reveals more data.
We live in an area with fairly long life spans. So a flag is raised when a person 45 or younger dies and not due to an accident.
However, after reading your link, fatal accidents may be another predictor of being a homosexual. The two paragraphs below come from the article you linked.
