I have 2 UM degrees, one from the mid-70’s. Most of the white kids who said they were from Detroit had actually moved out of the city after the riots. We only went in to Cobo and other music venues.
My late husband’s people are from Dexter; our son went up every summer. Being of Greek background, the only place they would take him in Detroit was to Greektown.
I feel sorry for Detroit. I have quite a collection of pictures of abandoned Detroit. It was a great city once, but the Dims, unions, and non-producers destroyed it.
We were living in Detroit until the riots. My dad sent all of us out of town until things cooled down. We moved to the suburbs before the end of the year. After that, I think we went into the city proper maybe twice before we moved out of state in the 70’s. It was just a no-go zone for whites after 1967.
Looks like Harm City wants to follow in those footsteps. So be it.
