I'm a 65 year old reserve police officer. You couldn't be more wrong.Let's say you pull over a car. You don't know who's in the car. As you walk up to the car, are you trained to treat the occupants as your friends or potential murderers?
Same thing. As a civilian I never know what kind of cop I'm going to be dealing with, so I must take precautions to protect myself.
It's safer to never, ever trust a cop.
Well I guess I was raised differently and obviously we have led much different lives. I spend a lot of my time building trust with children and elderly persons who have cognitive disorders in my department's Lojack Safety Net program so that they will not be afraid to approach officers if they wander. That's where I was coming from on my comment.
