If education is an escalator to lift people from poverty, young African American males are languishing at the bottom level. Only about 60 percent of them will earn high school diplomas, and roughly four in 10 drop out before graduation day. Thats compared with a 65-percent graduation rate for Latino males and 80 percent for young white men.
Meanwhile, the graduation gap between young black men and their white peers has grown even wider, jumping about 10 percent in a little over a year.
Those are just some of the sobering takeaways from the 10th biannual Schott Foundation report on the state of African American males in public education. The reports authors examined national data on high school completion rates during the 20122013 academic year. They found that although the overall graduation rate for black males has grown to 59 percentup from 51 percent in the previous 20102011 surveythey are least likely of all demographic groups to graduate from high school in 35 of 47 states and the District of Columbia.
Simply stated, while most will say black lives matter and are important, the four-year graduation results in this report indicate that most states and localities operate at best, and have created at worse, climates that often dont foster healthy living and learning environments for black males, wrote John H. Jackson, president and CEO of the Schott Foundation for Public Education, in the report.
Pedro Nogueraa sociologist, an education analyst, and a professor at New York Universitysaid the study wasnt a surprise. National education leaders still havent addressed the systemic problems that lead to the stubborn achievement gap between black and white students....

Here is the answer!
The “Tyranny of Low Expectations” that was force fed to us by “Progressive Academics”.
For some reason I just can’t comment on this subject ... No No I just can’t!
Going to school and getting good grades is too white.
The word ‘ systematic’ is killing me. I hear this all the time when arguing with liberals. when someone uses this word they are saying their failure is someone else’s fault. I’m tired of people not trying and then blaming others or the ‘system’
Yep doing well in school is derided as acting white in ghetto culture.
Unless ghetto cultural attitudes change, black students will continue to drop out and go nowhere in life.
Two words; Bell Curve.

"Calling somebody a 'Neanderthal' has long been used as a pejorative term. However, studies of human remains reveal the Neanderthals had larger brains than all other ancient humans; thus, Neanderthals had more complex and advanced societies. The only humans to have never interbred with ancient Neanderthals were sub-Saharan Africans. All the rest of us today - Asians, Europeans, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders - have some genetic link to the large-brained Neanderthals. This may explain why blacks lack the same learning skills as other races."
It’s the average of IQ’s that explains racial disparity in academic performance. We’ve been through all this before. The book “The Bell Curve” settled this matter.
“Two words; Bell Curve.”
Yep. The thought police have banned discussion of the real issue, mainly the proven bell curve IQ differentials between the races. Does that mean there are no black geniuses and no stupid whites? Hardly. But there are in fact significant IQ differences between the races as groups.
Anyone can google:

to see what we’re talking about.
It was society’s fault in 1948 as it is society’s fault today.

Affirmative action has caused a lot of dropouts.
I have friends who teach at USC and they have seen in the past some come in and they are smart, but are put in with people more qualified to be there.
End result is that unless they are given good gift grades they can not compete and should have been left to graduate from a state college.
So affirmative action has caused many of those that would have graduated from a state college to not graduate at all.
How is that helping people?
These kids resent every second they are forced to spend in class.
Don’t be white, yo.
The Latino and Asian kids thank them.
Middle class black families send their kids to college, to the same extent as other middle class families, I’d bet. It’s the single parent kids that are suffering in every way. There’s nothing like a real dad to make you get your rear in gear and make something of yourself.
Isn’t the average Black IQ something like 70?
“The Bell Curve”?
They think it’s ‘’white’ to study and be sucessful, so they don’t. They CHOOSE to not succeed, and they meet their goals. Whose fault is that really?
Healthy living and learning environments begin at home. If not, education and other social influences can’t fill the gap. Home, everyone, home is where it starts!
