Ventura said that Kyle or his publisher would not give a retraction, and would not restore his reputation. Ventura said his only alternative was to go to court and said the federal judge found substantial evidence that supported a verdict in favor of Ventura. Ventura also said that he sued Kyle before he died and that the lack of a retraction was hurting his reputation among military people, that he could not get a job, lost his TV show - and further the lack of said retraction was hurting him and his family.
