Western intelligence sources say son of late Hezbollah leader Mughniyeh was planning attacks on Israel, received direct Iranian sponsorship.
Following reports of an IAF helicopter strike on Sunday that targeted a convoy of Hezbollah operatives and killed 10, Hezbollah-run television in Lebanon indicated the incident could prompt a "costly" surge in tensions in the region.
On Sunday evening, the al-Manar news channel said the attack suggested that "the enemy has gone crazy because of Hezbollah's growing capabilities and it could lead to a costly adventure that will put the Middle East at stake."
Western intelligence sources reported Sunday that Jihad Mughniyeh, who was said to be killed Sunday in the IAF attack along with nine others, headed a large-scale terrorist cell that enjoyed direct Iranian sponsorship and a direct link to Hezbollah.
The cell had targeted Israel in the past, launching attacks on the Golan Heights.
Mughniyeh, the son of the late Hezbollah leader Imad Mughniyeh, was believed to have been in the planning stages of more deadly terror attacks against Israel in the Golan Heights, which would have included rockets, cross-border infiltrations, border bombings, and anti-tank fire.
The attacks were designed to kill IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians who live in the Golan, the sources said.
As of Sunday night, UN peacekeepers intensified their patrols on the border between Lebanon and Israel, local sources said.
Hezbollah fighters weren’t there for sight-seeing and Israel took them out before they could do major damage.
“Hezbollah-run television in Lebanon indicated the incident could prompt a ‘costly’ surge in tensions in the region.”
After regular threats of total annihilation, this one seems rather anticlimactic.
The more Hezbollah scum killed the better..may they enjoy their Rosie O’Donnell type virgins in hell
Israel needs to take out Hezbellah. It is ridiculous to let them fester on the border, constantly re-arming with newer and newer rockets and bombs. And threatening.
Father and son reunited, most likely in Hell, how touching.
Good riddance
May Hezbollah have many such “victories” in the future.
When the political winds turn ugly I will stand with Israel.
IAF- nice shooting. Good grouping.
An IAF strike would be seemingly called for on the Moslem actually most dangerous to Israel.
The biggest difference between Muslim terrorists in the middle east and the FARC in Colombia is that the FARC hides in jungles and is usually hard to find.
“When the political winds turn ugly I will stand with Israel.”
Going to use that as my new tag line. I likey.
I’ll join you.
I’ll gladly support the new front man for liberty, rights, freedom and democracy now that Obama has removed America from its age old job.
He never learned that it was Christendom that made all things great and modern that the US used to espouse. He did learn that Islam is great and we are the lowly infidel.
Israel is now the new global leader!
I sure hope that none of Jihad Mughniyeh’s goat consorts were hurt in the attack, and that the attack only killed some animals like Mughniyeh...
Yeah...I’m sure Hezbollah wants to open up a two front war.
So, today’s lesson is “Don’t defend yourself against someone that is trying to kill you, you’ll only make them mad”.
Yes, it was costly, for Islam. However not striking would have been costly for Israel.
Wise Decision...
