Romney or Bush: Who would you prefer if you had to choose for 2016 nomination? And Why?

Posted on 01/10/2015 7:43:45 AM PST by inchworm

I'd take Romney. He seems more like he is learning, understanding, and trying to be more conservative as the years go on. Bush on the other hand is floating ideas that seem far less conservative to me as the years go on.

However, CRUZ IS MY TOP CHOICE!!! Go CRUZ!

Your hostile support for Romney throughout the thread is telling, a few of us have had to endure your insults.

Aside from insults, you cannot seem to defend him.

Mitt has proven himself incompetent, every time he leaves the sanctuary of his religion and his building the family wealth.

He has won a single election in his quarter century of elective politics, and he didn’t reach 50% in that race, he then governed so badly that he had to give up running for reelection, and crept out of that 4 year stint, with 34% approval, being so incompetent that he lost the seat to the democrats, after being the 4th republican governor in a row.

Romney followed that up with hitting the 2008 primary as the 800 pound money gorilla, and losing to Huckabee and McCain, and then spending his way through the 2012 primary to lose a presidential race to Jimmy Carter’s second term when we were on the verge of a depression.

Aside from being a pathological liar “I marched with MLK”, “lifetime hunter” “gun owner”, “I have become pro-life”, “I was not running a sanctuary mansion for 11 years and 2 national scandals” “I longed to serve in Vietnam”, and on and on, the man is an incompetent boob.

Why create controversy when none exists?

Long time FReepers supporting both have been banned for their beliefs in each of them so what are you trying to do, resurrect another "cleansing"?

As for me, I'm not sayin'......

LOL! Only if in your head Palin is considered to be Bush III!

I won’t vote for any of the libs you “republicans types” (GOPe) want to push. But you Romney supporters are too much. Your boy comes out hinting that he’s gone etch a sketch again and wants to pretend to run. So one of you puts out some phony attempt at poll on a conservative site.

Are you all trying to prove to your GOPe overlords that Romney can still pull one over on conservatives? Or maybe Mitt just believes that lying to conservatives is better than winning without conservatives.

Romney is farther left than anyone, and the ultimate wimp.

It looks like we are going to have to continue the 8 year effort to educate the Romney fans.

taken on the establishment

First off, define what that means.

Second, what traditionally happens is that a candidate moving from a Rep. to a Senator gets less conservative. Why is that? It's because the electorate is less conservative as a whole. Conservatives have to understand that. At best, we're a minority.

That said, a minority can do a lot to influence policy, but first you have to control the thoughtspace. We've done that with gun control and abortion. We need to do it with things like freedom to work, etc.

Politics is a game of the possible. You can push the envelope, but politicians rarely lead. Walker has lead. America is designed to deny revolutions. Inertia wins. Redirect that inertia our way and we'll always win.

I mean like Ronald Reagan, taking on the elites in the party. Or Ted Cruz, Or Sarah Palin, Or Mike Le, or Louis Gohmert.

Are you implying that Gov. Walker hasn’t done that?

you have got it right, absolutely right, correct

any other course is just pretending to do something to be able to boast and try to salvage self esteem from irrelevancy. the self righteous among us are pretenders, boasters, chest pounders. they boast of their sanctimonious self righteousness. although I sometimes think some of the pretenders are really Rat plants I can’t understand the willingness to risk the election of a Democrat merely to boast of ridged, stupid adherence to some delusion of principle. They place them selves as being better than America

What I wish is for a secondary. That is, a process to weed the conservative candidates down to one to compete with the GOPe candidate in the primary.

we need no michelle’s or Santorum’s or rubio’s in the primary debates

The serving governors and Cruz need to select one of them selves to go head to head with Jeb and Mitt

I can only hope that enough of big money can gather behind one of the sitting governors and or perhaps Cruz and announce anointment and exclusion of Jeb or Mitt

Vette, not trying to show anyone anything. Your opinion is neither requested nor useful. I’m not pissed, but you certainly seem to be. You can go back to working for the establishment in attempting to soften up the opposition. Consider this effort to have failed.

Walker has more experience, and he has been successful, Romney only has a single term in office, and was a dismal failure, couldn’t get reelected, and left with 34% approval, and has lost everything since then, and everything before that.

I like the idea of both romney and bush running for president as it will split the unitarian vote.

Too many Republicans don’t really understand why socialism is evil. When they campaign, they try to appeal to voters by telling them that they would manage the socialist institutions like health care, social security and public education far more efficiently than the socialist democrats have done. But they would still retain the socialist models. It would be “too extreme” to repeal them.

there are several things i disagree with in the libertarian party platform...

but they do not lie to my face.
they are at least honest.
i can work with someone who will not lie to me.

i agree with the republican party platform.
but the republicans do not agree with their own platform.
they lie right to my face.
they are dishonest.
i can never work with someone that tells me what i want to hear and then does something else.

no integrity...

sooooo... if i have to put out effort, i would rather work to change the platform of those who are honest with me, then to support the platform of those who are dishonest..

it is all about integrity, and the pubs have none...

especially the bushes and mcromney..

Newsflash: the choice was Jeb or Mitt. No third choices allowed. I know that model can be complicated for some but you might want to look into careful reading skills. They’re important.
