Years ago our IT professionals in the company really fought allowing our company network(which was dedicated lines world wide) to be connected to the internet and allowing us access from any internet connected computer.
They said..and I think this is true..the only real security is an air gap between you and the net.
very true. i was in on one of those arguments myself. they never address security all they did was clamor for the shiny thing being dangled before them, nary a one thinking about what it all meant. and now we have identity theft, government monitoring, loss of security in our most vital institutions, and now terrorists threats.
pretty much everything we predicted came true, and the question has become ‘was it all worth it’?
all that political ranting and cute kitty pics sure ended up costing us/
