My guess? It is potentially related to these upgrades / corrections to the deficiencies in the existing system...
That would be my guess. The new stretch of light rail right downtown just came online the day before Thanksgiving and my guess would be that its related to that.
As a Michigan resident, I can't help but wonder what the hell is going on in the liberal bastion of Ann Arbor. Their power goes out every time a cloud passes overhead. I'm over here in Jacksatucky county as they so snidely call it and our power almost never goes out.

We have power down here in Ecorse. Might make for an interesting ride home tonight though.

A-squared is DTE; they cow-tow to the current cultural douche-baggery.
Out-state (including Jacktown) is CMS/CP: they really don’t care one way or the other.
From my memory, Dave Joos (he still there?) is a non-descript guy who cares only if the shareholders get their returns.

In my experience with Ann Arbor (years ago), I learned that a lot of residential electricity is still delivered via overhead cable. Couple that with Ann Arbor’s fondness for trees and unwillingness to cut them back, and it makes power outages common whenever a weather event rolls through.
