Republican leaders hope to contain outrage in the ranks over Obama immigration moves

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) winced as he listened to comments from Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) in reaction to President Obamas plans to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation.
Unfortunate, unfair, unnecessary, unwise, Graham said.
Earlier Wednesday, Bachmann, a retiring tea-party firebrand, had declared that those immigrants covered by the policies that the president would announce Thursday would become illiterate voters.
For Republicans the roiling debate over the presidents decision is not only a fight with the White House, but a test of whether they can contain some of the unhelpful passions among their swelling majorities in both chambers. The task is keeping on-message and away from the controversial and sometimes offensive comments that have traditionally hindered attempts to bolster support for the party among Hispanics.

“Fortunately Boehner has to keep up a fight”
I’m sorry, what “fight” is this of which you speak regarding Boehner keeping up? I do not think it means what you think it means. Perchance, does your definition of “fight” resemble “giving stamp of approval on request”?

I honestly do not understand why anyone would not want to be registered with a political party so that you can do what you can to influence that party, particularly in the primaries and caucuses (caucuses particularly are where you can really have a say.) You can have a real impact in the local party/elections if you wish to spend the time, and ultimately that will affect the national party. To my way of thinking, being unaffiliated with either of the majority parties disenfranchises you at least 50%. You do not have to contribute financially to the party if it goes astray, and as a member of your party, what you have to say when contacted for a contribution is important; or in my case when I was contacted to be a precinct captain in the last election. I refused and I had plenty to say to the party apparatchik locally about shoving Romney down my throat. Again, I do not understand this line of thinking and I do not think I ever will.

I thought the IRS scandal got the conservative base fired up, but this Amnesty thing has people really PISSED.
To: odawg
I was thinking the same thing. 6 more years of this fool Graham “wincing” when someone advances a remotely conservative position or wants to be remotely confrontational with the Democrats. Thanks, South Carolina, for giving us another term for this idiot.

A real fight. Until he's elected Speaker.
Then he'll pass some kind of amnesty.

They are worse, because they know their inaction is 100% due to their being Chamber of Commerce WHORES!
