In a bad sign for the future of security in Baghdad, ISIS forces are apparently close enough to the center of the Iraqi capital that they are firing mortars which are landing inside the heavily fortified Green Zone.
Officials in Baghdad confirmed on Tuesday that two mortars landed within 500 meters of the United States embassy in the Green Zone. That portion of the city houses Iraqi government facilities as well as American and British diplomatic installations. ISIS militants on Twitter reportedly claimed credit for striking targets inside the Green Zone moments after the attack.
counter battery fire
A-10’s overhead . If it moves , kill it
'Course, as long as this news only remains on Hotair and FR, he will never hear about it.
ps: it is imperative to kill al Baghdadi ASAP
find , fix , kill
But you never know. It IS election season. There might be some political points to be scored here.
Let's see. When is the election? Two weeks? I'm guessing some time after that.
And if the balloon goes up before Election Day, the embassy staff knows full well that their job is to die for their party.
they need to start overriding his directives and fight the fight to decimate the enemy
Be more specific. Who is "they"? Our military leaders?
Do they even have A10s or AC130s or Apaches securing the Embassy? Knowing Obama it will be another Benghazi disaster.
There is essentially no more “Green Zone”; hope it won’t become a “Black Zone”.
This clown has given the whole circus away! We will soon have a caliphate with all the wealth of Iraq and all the armament that we sent to the Iraqi government.
Not bad for the JV team.
yes
There were claims on Twitter earlier that ISIS had hit the Embassy Compound with a grad.
The largest US mortar is the M120, a 120mm, with a range of 7.2km so drawing a circle from the center of the Green Zone will establish potential firing locations. Narrow the area of interest to known ISIS hot areas and start checking rooftops for evidence. Due to size/weight considerations of the baseplate, this is likely a smaller mortar so the actual range will be reduced along with the potential firing sites.
Sounds like a personal problem.
Maybe they should have agreed to let the USA stay, protect them and give their nascent nation a chance.
What’s a “grad”?
Thnx in advance...
He only needs to hang on to Bagdad for another 2 weeks.
Abu Grab (sp) ISIS held.
