I'm new in a Public employees’ union in NYS, and I couldn't agree more.
It's all about politics and Liberal ideology, and getting their guy in the governorship. Unions have no business trying to buy who their boss is going to be.
Up until May I worked as a non-union public employee, and got paid about 9% less than a union worker for the same exact job; so much for equal pay for equal work. Non-union employees haven't had a raise since 2008, while the unions have had 2. I was promoted and the new job was a union job, whether I wanted to be in or not. The pay raise was too much too pass up. I've already opted out of having any of my dues go to political donations, so once a year the union will be sending me a check for about 50$.
I'd rather not have been put in the union, but the pay scale discrepancy was too big, I couldn't afford to stay non-union.
I agree with your take on it.
Personally I think it’s wrong for a union to take funds and put it down on any politician.
The employees can support who they want privately.
They have a voice. They don’t need to union on this.
