Two years ago this week, the nations unemployment dipped below 8% for the first time since the start of the Great Recession. Almost immediately, Republicans were outraged the good news couldnt be real, they said, but rather must be the result of an elaborate conspiracy.
Friday we learned that the nations jobless rate has dipped even lower, dropping below 6% for the first time in over six years. Rush Limbaugh told his audience that the 2012 data was entirely made up and artificially manufactured, and the 2014 data is worse. [snip]
This is from the Rachel Maddow Blog site.
I need say no more. Paid partisan quackhackery from a source whose name is synonymous with paid quackhackery.
Rush and Fox are right. MSNBC is wrong.
If you really want to get depressed, read the comments on the blog. A few brave souls contend futilely with the Maddow cultists for sanity in the delusional lesbo-libworld it represents. They are swamped however, by “the children of the corn” who remain smug in their ignorance and confident in their faux self styled superiority.
But what the heck do I know and I don’t feel strongly about it.
These are not the droids you are looking for.
In 2012, here is what Rush had to say...
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2012/05/31/if_it_s_thursday_we_have_revised_jobless_numbers
And I went back into our archives, and I dug out the Reuters and the AP articles about weekly jobless claims from the past three weeks. And I did this just to be able to demonstrate how the one-party media that we have here is lying to us. Now, I’ve been saying, pointing out for weeks now that Reuters and the AP and the rest of the news media have been hiding the increase in new jobless numbers by reporting the unrevised number.
...
In fact, the weekly jobless claims number has now been revised up 19 weeks in a row and 64 out of the last 65 weeks.
...
Reuters is doing an about-face. And they’re actually admitting that new jobless claims have gone up for four weeks in a row.
This is unprecedented in the modern era.
Reuters and AP have been carrying the regime’s water on this unemployment news, and even today they’re trying to.
...
And AP and Reuters and the rest can do everything they want to try to convince people that everybody else is doing well. There’s no evidence. You don’t see it. Nobody’s living it. So they’re now becoming jokes.
Somehow the numbers always seem to get better just before an election. Call me a cynic, but I don’t see that in my life nor the lives around me. People still hurting, can’t find jobs. I see them every day.
The MSNBC circus side show of fools rolls on.
Great comment, Crazieman.
As a physician, I see them, too. But what is even MORE common is how many people have either NO health insurance anymore, or they have a crappy plan that doesn't pay for anything.
And for the joyous new millions of Medicaid recipients?
Good luck finding anyone who will take that.
Our practice doesn't and for good reason.
It pays so poorly that you'll lose money.
For another kick in the teeth, it's illegal for a Medicaid recipient to pay cash, or for us to accept it if we participate in the program.
So we don't participate.
So ignoring states’ like California unemployment numbers and estimating fantastic hiring rates before the 2012 election was made up??? And the big corrections after all these big unemployment announcements that is completely ignored was made up??? And I suppose all those people that have left the unemployment rolls, moved to disability, or completely dropped out of the labor force was made up???
Way to drink the flavoraid.
I have been finding much better housing lately ...good sturdy cardboard boxes!....I think real estate is coming back strong
It all depends on their daffynition of unemployed.
I have taken a 26% loss without taking into account I will pay 8k more for health insurance next year.
And if we had a Republican president, MSNBC would be the “unemployment truther” going on and on about twisted statistics.
Does looking for the “truth” make me a “truther?” I have to assume that this article attacks me for that and that the MSLSD presser is in fact the opposit..
The opposit of “truther” is “LIAR.”
“The chocolate ration has been increased from 20 to 15 grams.”
I used to understand the spirit of this quote, but now I understand the context. After reading “A Brave New World” recently, I am looking forward to my SOMA ration....
93,000,000 Americans are now unemployed.
That is not good.
Bring back jobs to AMERICA.
Very true — if you count unemployed and underemployed in the people you know, what would that be?
30 or so in every hundred?
