I'd urge everyone who believes in zero tolerance for NFL employees caught beating their wives or girlfriends to direct as much attentionor ideally, even more attentionat police officers who assault their partners. Several studies have found that the romantic partners of police officers suffer domestic abuse at rates significantly higher than the general population. And while all partner abuse is unacceptable, it is especially problematic when domestic abusers are literally the people that battered and abused women are supposed to call for help.
If there's any job that domestic abuse should disqualify a person from holding, isn't it the one job that gives you a lethal weapon, trains you to stalk people without their noticing, and relies on your judgment and discretion to protect the abused against domestic abusers?
The opprobrium heaped on the NFL for failing to suspend or terminate domestic abusers, and the virtual absence of similar pressure directed at police departments, leads me to believe that many people don't know the extent of domestic abuse among officers. This is somewhat surprising, since a country shocked by Ray Rice's actions ought to be even more horrified by the most egregious examples of domestic abuse among police officers. Their stories end in death.

I worked with a nurse in the ER where I worked who was married to a Boston cop (ER nurses and cops are a tradition in this country). She divorced him because he used to beat the tar out of her and her (and his) kids.
NFL’s a business. If players are beating up their wives or kids people won’t watch.
The problem is African American males with no father who grow up to be thugs, but the media won’t say that. Today, this issue became a media frenzy like I have seldom seen. Why? They think it will drum out the Democrat base........single mothers and women who think they are victims.
If? If they are beating up their wives? beating up their kids? killing their dogs?
Probably because both law enforcement and football are legalized fighting.
If you are a fighter, it is natural to resolve problems by fighting.
Members of those professions who separate their professional instincts from their private life are to be commended. They are the true gentlemen.
Valor and chivalry are going down the tubes because faith in God is doing so. God never went anywhere. People moved.
Illegal alien invaders have an even bigger domestic abuse problem than the police. Looks like the NFL isn’t so bad after all.
I was a police officer for over 30 years and have been married to the same woman (a saint) for 42 years. I learned early not to take the job home with me. I made it a point to kept my job and home life separate. Many I worked with over the years couldn’t, that is why the divorce rate for cops is so very, very high.
The rate of domestic abuse in congress is 8 times that of the NFL.
Worst things a DATE can say to you.
I’m not as crazy as they say I am.
My brother is a deranged BIKER.
My Family HATES ME
I only do DRUGS occasionally
MY X IS A COP!!!
The problem lies in what the police are asked to do, which is to be aggressive, rough and tough brawlers. Like pro athletes, who are given aggression training and pushed hard to be brutal in the field of “play”, then are expected to turn it off once they go home.
Bingo....this is a Black NFL player problem, but Goodell, the team owners, and the media are never going to admit this obvious fact.

Yeah, if you doubt that, take a look at the pix of those who are “of interest” right now. Ain’t no white boys, are there? Count me as one of those who gave up on “professional sports” years ago. I have no desire to enrich either the owners or the “players.” Even NASCAR is just a put up show. I’d really like to buy one of those RWD pushrod V8 Toyotas, or a Ford or a Chevy either.
Pure unadulterated B/S.
Granted, people in all walks of life are touched by domestic violence....and murder, child molestation, and on and on.
How about a “study” on how many in the American Bar Association beat their wives? Perhaps, doctors, teachers, REPORTERS?
Does anyone have access to domestic violence by Hollyweird people or by newspaper people? I bet those results would be worth a look.
You just confessed you had no way of knowing if the allegation is true. Watch out.
Unless you’re a deranged biker too in which case SH** YEAH I’D BE GLAD TO MEET THE FELLOW
just kidding
LOL...
