If these “stars” want to keep their nudity private, don’t take the pictures, or give someone else the opportunity to take them. Personally, I think the release of these “private photos” are nothing more than publicity stunts to get their names (and private parts) exposed thereby gaining attention to their failing careers. They are and have been, attention seekers, its what they do.

I doubt your theory. These are private pictures intended for personal use. They trusted a “secure” service too much but may not have even realized the software was copying the pictures.

How about if it was your wife’s pictures? Whoever did this probably had access to those too.

Thank you...even the dimmest bulb in Hollywood should realize that anything on an internet-connected device is within the reach of hackers, and it doesn’t matter how “secure” the network is.

Here’s a little reality check for all the starlets caught in this scandal. If you keep nude selfies (or shots that are even more provocative) on your smart phone or tablet, it’s probably just a matter of time before they make their way into social media, because of a hacker, a disgruntled former assistant, or your own effort to revive a flagging career.

One of the great advantages in being middle aged, out-of-shape and a non-celebrity is the temptation to take a nude selfie is approximately zero. Therefore, the odds of me getting caught in that type of scandal are the same: zero.

I’m amazed that the digital generation doesn’t understand that once they enter something into their devices and/or post it on social media, it’s out there forever. More than a few millenials have been turned down for jobs because of something stupid they placed on social media years ago.

I was at a mentoring session with some younger colleagues a few months ago and was asked for my “advice” on having a successful career. After the usual stuff about working hard, mastering every facet of your job, continuing your education, etc., I offered one more nugget: get off of social media or make your Facebook, Instagram or Twitter account so bland they would lull a reader to sleep.

In the future, employees will be judged by their performance and what their company finds on social media. It will be the corporate equivalent of a letter of reprimand or Article 15 in the military; not enough to end your career on the spot, but something your supervisors and the HR staff can use down the road to deny a promotion or pay raise, or deny a contract extension (if your employment is covered by that type of agreement).

Your post proves how out of touch you are. You’re talking about an A-list Oscar-winning actress who rules Hollywood at age 24 as well as the hottest super model on the planet who doesn’t get out of bed for less than $50,000 a shoot. Sprinkle in some stars who, if anything, will have their brand hurt by these types of photos due to the fact that their main audience is children.

I wouldn’t characterize most of these women as having ‘failing careers’. The poster child for the story has been Jennifer Lawrence, who is doing very well right now. Another name that pops up is Kate Upton, who seems to be at the top of her profession. I saw Kaley Cuoco’s name in the mix - she just got a deal for a million dollars an episode. One was a singer named Arianna Grande...the mere fact that I recognize her name means she’s very popular right now.

I don’t think this was a publicity stunt. I just don’t think these people really understand how the cloud works. I’m not a techy kind of guy, which gives me an advantage, I believe...I don’t know how it works in binary code terms...but on the other hand, I KNOW how it works. Step 1 - buy the latest and greatest phone, ignore all the settings and let Apple default you into cloud storage...that you might not even know you are using. Step 2 - use your phone like its a stand alone device, aka polaroid camera. Step 3 - Learn the hard way that the stuff ‘on your phone’ is really on a server somewhere.

I agree.I think it is a publicity stunt.
Isn't a full length mirror enough? I think we are a country of fools. Isis wants to come here to rape and behead everyone of us and what are people in US worried about? Selfies and throwing ice water over our heads.
