You’re missing the point. The Travis PIU is not exclusive to prosecuting state officials. It just happens to be a matter of jurisdiction because most of the crimes occur in Travis County. If bribery had occurred in Dallas County, then the Dallas PIU would have investigated/prosectud. The state has little to no investigative/prosecutorial arm. What you’re asking for, is basically for the state to create it’s own FBI. I don’t like my government making itself bigger and more powerful.
