I don’t condemn you. You are given an impossible job. We need cops to protect us from violence. Instead you are tasked with enforcing a million laws that have nothing to do with violence.
In this particular case the victim was suspected of depriving the State of tax money. It shouldn’t have been something the cops needed to be concerned about.
Thank you. I must admit, I shake my head a little at the rookies coming into my agency these days. sometimes I think their priorities are a little skewed. My goal has always been compliance. If I can get compliance with rules and laws without tickets, arrests and fights- great! some of the newer officers think arrests, tickets and getting physical
are the job. Or maybe I'm just a career cop who decided it was easier and less messy to think my way out of trouble than fight my way out.
