Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who championed the Senate’s amnesty bill last year, has said Republicans in the Senate would “absolutely” try again to push amnesty legislation, which the Congressional Budget Office determined would lower the wages of American workers, if Republicans win back the Senate.
Hey, let’s play the same game they play against us. Let’s promise that we’ll push an amnesty bill next year if we have a Republican House and Senate... Then once we get that, it’s “no way we’re going to allow you guys to do that!”
I’d bet that any Immigration Reform bill would be more in line with America’s values if Harry Reid didn’t control the Senate when that bill was debated.
I could support a bill that:
First, built a security fence
Second, strictly enforced a no-illegal-crossing policy.
Third, required e-verification of every worker’s “legal status”.
Fourth, speedily deported any criminal who was ALSO an illegal immigrant. Note: No mass round-ups authorized.
Fifth, processed all “asylum-seekers” in GITMO. Note: “Economic refugees” may NOT claim a “right” of asylum.
Sixth: All legitimate “asylem-seekers” would be settled in America’s worst communities: Detroit. Chicago’s South Side. Etc.
Seventh: After 10 years as registered aliens, aliens may START process of becoming naturalized citizens.
