My mother was an R.N.. She'd come home and tell us stories about cancer patients. One particularly gruesome patient was a young girl who had smoked, cancer had eaten half her mouth away.
Made for horrible dinner conversation. Especially when you were having spagetti.

If private entities want to spread such messages, that's fine, but it's not the government's job to leverage it with subsidy.
I think cigarette smoking is one of the silliest habits on earth, but I also believe that private business has every right to determine its own smoking policy, and not be dictated to by government.
Thus, if a restaurant offers a smoking section and you don't like that, then you're perfectly at liberty to go to a different restaurant which has a different policy.
