Has your town made you RACIST? Living in ethnically diverse areas makes people more tolerant

A study found led by the University of Oxford found that white people develop ‘passive tolerance’ of minorities in mixed areas It said even highly prejudiced people who did not mix with those of different ethnicities became more tolerant the longer they lived in mixed areas Scientists said that governments could create more ‘harmonious neighbourhoods’ by doing more to encourage different ethnic groups to mix

The area you live in can have a huge effect on your education and outlook.

And now researchers believe people can be made less racist by simply moving to live in ethnically-mixed areas.

An international study found that white people develop ‘passive tolerance’ of minorities in mixed areas, even if they have no direct contact with them.

In Seattle, we had an acronym: DWA - Driving While Asian. And I was told of it by a third generation asian friend. He said the phrase refers to the first generation asians who can’t drive.

Here in central KY, it is pretty much all white with some black and the only mexicans or asians I’ve seen are in the mexican and chinese restaurants. Dead serious.

When we visited seattle last time (we’ve been away for almost three years) we went into our old favorite Costco in Tukwilla and thought we’d gone to another country. Whites were definitely in the minority.

Not that race is everything, but birds of a feather flock together. Often race is part of that, but not always.

Kinda like a lot of us developed a “passive tolerence” to obama.

Reminds me of that phrase in True lies: Women. You can’t live with ‘em and you can’t shoot ‘em.

A study was done a while back that showed the exact opposite -

people who didn’t live near people of other ethnicities and cultures tended to be more tolerant of those ethnicities and cultures when they interacted with them.

IE, familiarity breeds contempt.

“Anti-racism” is nothing but a codeword for anti-white. None of these evil people think any Asian or African country needs to replace its people so they can become “tolerant.”

We noticed something in a Walmart not long ago.
The clientele and staff were “majority minority”, even though this Walmart was in/next to an upscale neighborhood.

We noticed that the shelves were all in disarray, as if no one cared. Things were out of stock or stocked in the wrong place, or askew on the shelf instead of lined up neatly.

Instead of a greeter, there was some guy attempting to look intimidating, like the BP’s at the PA polling location.

We probably will choose a different location to shop next time.

“Passive Tolerance” is insufficient, and will not be Tolerated by the intolerant left. “Coexistence” will not be tolerated, as it indicates tolerance without enthusiastic acceptance.
Unless you “Embrace Diversity” you are rasiss.

Great post. In just a few sentences you enabled me to look at this phenomenon from some angles I’d never seen before.

Just last weekend I finally moved out of a “ethnically diverse” inner ring suburb to an a “culturally homogeneous” outer ring suburb. Each day that goes by I feel like killing fewer people. ;-)

I think most studies have concluded that people like to live among their own but the government can’t have people making their own choices ya know...

When I lived in the Seattle area, there was, for a time, only one wall mart. It was in Renton. It was a pig stye. I mean you could walk through the clothing section and clothes were all over the floor like a teenagers bedroom. And the customers were creepy. It was a very diverse group, though. Poor whites, blacks, indians (dot in the forehead, not feather) and middle eastern muslims.

I shopped there a total of four times but never bought anything (partly because the lines were so slow I’d leave my item on a shelf near the line and leave.)

But in that area you have all sorts of options other than Wal-Mart so the “non-riff-raff” shops elsewhere. Sorry to put it that way, but that is what actually happens.

Now I’m in central KY. We have Kroger, Lowe’s, a bunch of mom and pop stores and a Wal-Mart. That’s it. Since EVERYONE shops there it is a much nicer place. In fact, I actually like shopping there. The lines are fairly fast, the clerks are beyond nice, and there are now six self checkout stations. I can check out faster than Costco.

In other words, it’s not Wal-Mart. It’s the local clientele. (But you probably already knew that)

Absent outside duress, and given their druthers, humans as a rule will almost invariably self-segregate, and all the kumbaya in the galaxy won't change that preference.

Those so spinelessly self-loathing as to be obsessed with 'white guilt' should take it to the logical conclusion of offing themselves.
Perhaps then those of us who understand that Caucasian/European civilization has been the primary impetus for mankind's escape from serfdom can get on with things absent this kind of puerile self-flagellation.

"passive tolerance"

More like resigned acceptance at the loss of their country, not through an 'act of God' but through acts of parliament.

Of course it is only White people and White countries that are expected to have 'passive tolerance' of their dispossession.

Why would you want to live among people that don’t have the same standards? We’re being real right? Whenever I’ve seen minorities take over white neighborhoods that kept their lawns and homes in order one of the first things I notice is that the neighborhoods start looking haggard and steadily decline until they resemble the areas that the minorities came from. I don’t think it has so much to do with money as it does their lifestyle such as partying and running the streets all the time, neglecting the upkeep of your home for the pursuit of pleasure. I’m not saying all of them do that but a larger percentage do. At least that’s my observations and experience for over a half a century...: )

The behavior of the minorities made me racist.

I had successfully overcame most of the racist attitudes I was raised with (and acquired in Highs school when they bused a bunch of blacks in) and then obama and his hit parade came on the scene.

Black panthers intimidating voters. Eric Holders “our people”, knock out game etc etc etc .

Everything the blacks do was against the whites

I’ve come to understand that it is not a racial problem. It’s a cultureal problem.

In high school we had 64 blacks in our school. No big deal. they were raised in our neighborhoods, went to our churches, shopped at our stores. They listened to our music and had our morals. They were just us with good tans.

Then they bussed in the inner city blacks. Thugs and criminals one and all. They were not us and had no interest in being us. Academic achievement was seen as acting white and was actively discouraged. Even our blakcs hated the foreigners!

In the town I live in we have a small number of black families. Again, they are in our culture. They are us with good tans. I have no problem with any of them and no fears when meeting two or three of them on the streets. I know thaem. They are us.

In the big cities the blacks act like savages, zombies with a hunger for living meat. Their culture keeps them that way and keeps me out of the big cities.

There is a fourth model: If we must have immigration (and there is nothing that says we need immigration, especially mass immigration) we choose people that are already as most like us as possible instead of as unlike us as possible.

STUDY: Diverse and Socially Cohesive Communities Are Not Possible

http://www.universityherald.com/articles/5716/20131121/diverse-socially-cohesive-communities-michigan-state-university-economical-religious.htm

"The reason why neighborhoods integration and cohesion cannot co-exist is based on how humans form relationships..."

"...people usually build relationships with others who are closer and similar to themselves, be it through race, religion, social class, etc."

STUDY: The Downside of Diversity

http://www.boston.com/news/globe/ideas/articles/2007/08/05/the_downside_of_diversity/?page=full

"...the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings."

So long as they were quiet and considerate, I’ve never had a problem with who any of my neighbors were.

And up till now, all those who weren’t have been jerky white people.
