I want to go to work for the State Guard. I wonder if there’s a way they can open restaurants or something to bring in cash to pay for new employees.

Look at Ukraine for a modern day example of what people can accomplish when they unite against a tyrant!

Guardasil was indeed bad news but if you remember, he did back down to pressure from the majority. When was the last time you saw Obama do that?

“If the Federal Government cuts back on National Guard assets, the states will have to develop their own.”

If we need a state militia, I think we just KEEP the assets that are here. Isn’t possession 9/10’s of the law? Then we can just point them at the national folks when they come to take it from us.

That may have been what I remember.

It said 22 states have their own state militias.

Good to know.

I don’t mind telling you I was a bit troubled today by the tone of the president. …For the president of the United States to look Democrat and Republican governors in the eye and to say ‘I do not trust you to make decisions in your state about issues of education, about transportation infrastructure…’ – that is really troubling.

And of course since the governors swore to protect and defend the Constitution, they reminded Obama that the states have never delegated to the feds, via the Constitution the specific powers to make educational decisions for the states, or to address intrastate transportation infrastructure ... right?

Regarding the nation's roads, note that with the exception of mail roads (Constitution's Clause 7 of Section 8 of Article I), the states have never delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for interstate transportation structure.

In fact, not only did President Woodrow Wilson wrongly ingnore the required consent of the Constitution's Article V state majority before signing Congress's bill to establish the Federal Reserve, but he also ignored the Article V majority consent when he signed the bill which appropriated federal funds to improve the nation's intrastate roadways, again, Congress having constitutional autority only to spend tax dollars on postal roads.

Federal Aid Road Act of 1916

Regarding my previous post, note that the state legislatures had already foolishly given up their voice in Congress by ratifying the ill-conceived 17th Amendment. Otherwise, the Senate might have killed the road bill.

I believe almost all states have a “Guard” clause or element in their constitutions.

Governors have the authority to whatever they please and can arrogate powers not enumerated in the US Constitution.

10th amendment....

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people

“BTW the public servants over at the NSA watch this site watching for anything that can be construed as a threat.”

A word of warning should go along with that statement.

They are not above trying to coax you into saying something or agreeing with something which can been perceived as a threat.

Anybody would be better than Obama, BUT I AM TIRED OF RINOS.

That is why we lost the last 2 elections.

The MAJORITY of Texans KNOW Rick Perry is a pretender.

That’s why he’s NOT running for Governor. H would NOT win again against Abott.

PERRY IS A BIG GOVERNMENT RINO who tried to give the contract for the TTC to a foreign firm, and who tried to force sexually transmitted vaccines on 12 year old girls.

WOULD A CONSERVATIVE DO THESE THINGS?

NO! But A RINO WOULD!

Can’t understand why the criticism of our Governor for saying he’s “troubled” by Obama’s words. Obama’s words are always troubling...

I think he’s done far more good for our state than any governor before him. He is a Christian and a gentleman.
