For further edification, “GOOGLE” The Wake Island 98”. My father, Archie Hays Pratt, was a Civilian Employee on Wake Island. He and 97 other civilians were Murdered en masse by the Japanese Commander after they had endured 3 years of captivity. They were buried in a mass grave and after the war were disinterred and buried, with honors at the National Cemetery in Honolulu. The Commanders weapon of choice was Machine guns and bound Prisoners.

I've read everything I could get my hands on about the Wake Island saga. One Morrison-Knudson fellow escaped the execution and evaded the Japanese for three days (a feat on that island). He was captured and brought before the island commander who personally beheaded him.

Even as he was about to be hung the POS commander didn't think he did anything wrong.
