Boy Scouts announce annual membership fee increase for 2014, raising questions . . .

[T]he BSA, which is based in Irving, announced last week that it is raising annual membership dues from $15 to $24 per Scout — a 60 percent increase — beginning Jan. 1, 2014.

Chief Scout Executive Wayne Brock . . . and BSA staff did not mention how much revenue might be lost from the defection of conservative families that leave the organization because of recent membership changes that allow [homosexual] youth to be Scouts.

. . .

The BSA once boasted of five million members back in the 1950s when the United States’ population was about half of what it is today. BSA now claims 2.2 million members. And it will be interesting to see whether headquarters will openly acknowledge how many members remain after annual registration for 2014.

>>My son showers in locker rooms at school. I presume some of the kids are gay in his school. Should I yank him out and home school?<<

Not the same as sleeping over in the same tent.

>>THIS ISN’T A GAME. This is a war we’re participating in. <<

We lost this battle when they went gay. Don’t sacrifice your kids to a hill that now is in enemy hands.

... The remaining camped out by our HS later that year, and us revolters loaded up with bear bait(bottles of rotted fish) and raided them throwing it on and in their tents. Damn that was fun!

And here you are years later bragging about it. Go choke yourself.

There has NEVER been a hill in enemy hands I wasn’t willing to fight to take back and there never will be.

EVER.

I've been involved with the scouts for about 7 years and I know of zero gays in our troop. I'm sure there have been a few boys who were gay but we don't know for sure.

The point is the Boy Scouts aren't a bunch of flaming homos running wild.

We have rules and training for everyone who goes on any outing and I have never had any issues with any gays. The only issues we've ever had is with mothers!

The $24 dues is at the national level and every troop adds their own amount to this so it can be $85 or whatever the troop committee set it at.

Finally, the Troop Committee determines who can be adult leaders and they have the option to block anyone they choose.

Is it possible that there are dumb Americans who will contribute their boys to this organization not knowing what is going on?

Yes, there are such "Americans", and some are "Republicans".

A month ago, my so. Earned Eagle. A week later, I resigned as Scoutmaster and hung up my uniform forever. On Monday, our troop will hold our first Trail Life USA meeting.

Adventure, character, leadership. That’s what we want for our young men.

Secular Progressives wanted to destroy the venerable BSA and finally accomplished their goal when the national leadership agreed to admit openly homosexual boys.

It's just a matter of time before today's openly homosexual Scouts grow into adulthood and demand to be Leaders - and the courts agree with them. Pressure by PC-centric corporate sponsors plays a big part in the predictable destruction of the Boy Scouts, too. Add to all that the natural aversion many parents will have to allowing their sons to join an organization that admits openly homosexual boys. Then there is the fact that there are many alternative organizations being formed to compete with and supplant the Boy Scouts.

Add it all up and the demise of the Boy Scouts of America is not a matter of if, but when. I give it about a decade, possibly 15 years.

So that means no district/council camporees, no distirct merit badge days, what about your district EBoR?, no council summer camp, no national jamboree, no world jamboree, and worst for you, no Philmont/Northern Tier/FL Sea Base/Summit.

For the present, it means no district/council camporees.

I'm not concerned with merit badge days or Eagle Boards of Review, which don't involve overnight camping. To me, the increased dangers are minimal.

Council Summer Camp is currently on hold for our Troop - by direction of our Troop Commitee, but not for my Crew, which has a different chartered organization.

National Jamborees are a Council event. I've been a Scoutmaster for two and will not serve again; it's a parental decision for Scouts as to whether they let their sons/daughters attend.

I've been a Scoutmaster for a World Scout Jamboree. Homosexual leaders and Scouts were already a fact of life in that environment. My biggest problem there was the co-ed nature, which U.S. Scouts had a difficult time handling in a mature manner. I believe in the co-ed program for older Scouts, which is why I'm a Venturing Crew Advisor.

I'm not concerned with Philmont, Northern Tier, or Sea Base. Even at a Philmont staffed camp, you're still a mile or more from the staff (except at a few camps, like Ponil). At Sea Base, you're with your own crew, with the exception of a few programs like Scuba Adventure or Scuba Training.

In other words, we make the decision on a case-by-case basis.

>>OK, what is your plan to rescue the BSA?<<

If I were in charge I would make it part of my charter that sexuality has no place in scouting. That the morals and values that define scouting has NOTHING to do with sex of any kind.

In fact I would turn the tide onto Progressives and state publicly and vehemently that sexuality has a place ONLY in the bedroom and NO WHERE else in society. That sexuality is, in the minds of the BSA, IRRELEVANT when it comes to helping mold honorable people and that it is opposed to the practice of dividing people based on, race, ethnicity, gender or sexuality and that by making an issue of any of these things it actually DIVIDES rather than enjoins people and the BSA is against it.

The BSA is as powerful a force for traditional morals and values as there is and they must harness that power to profess disgust at any group that uses any of these things to divide our children.

Also, it should state loudly and clearly that if a scout exhibits any sexual behavior around any other scout that it is against the charter and will be dealt with. Doesn’t matter if it’s gay or straight.

We have to take the power away from activists and the only way to do it is to make their agenda not only irrelevant but harmful.

If they do that, they’ll make the Duck Dynasty and Chick- Fil-A controversies look like nothing. The public will support it like they’ve supported nothing else in this world.

After all, who doesn’t love the Boy Scouts?
