Surviving Socialism PinglistStories and tips with a financial emphasis to help conservatives SURVIVE and prosper during difficult times.
To be added or taken off this list, please send a FR mail to RKBA Democrat. FAIR WARNING, I'm one of the worst pinglist administrators on FR. I ping infrequently then I ping a lot. I forget to add people to the list. I disappear for months at a time when I get fed up with politics. But I do try to make sure that the articles pinged are worthy of your time. I’ve been researching the health care sharing ministries option.
I’m ready to switch to Samaritan ministries when my plan dies in a year.
I hope Obamacare gets repealed, but I feel good about having a contingency plan now if it doesn’t.
So many reasons to avoid Obamacare now.

One caveat, however: the IRS can only collect the tax by reducing your tax refund. So, no refund equals no tax. Im not necessarily suggesting this as a tax strategy (irritating the IRS just seems like a bad idea on a number of levels), and it wont surprise me at all to see Congress one day try to fix this little loophole. But as the law stands right now, and as the IRS itself has posted (see #25, buried way at the bottom), the only way they have to collect the tax is by taking it from your refund, so if you dont have a refund coming back to you there is no way the IRS can force you to pay the tax. I would also add that since the penalty/tax accumulates year to year and never goes away (it just sits as an IOU against you) that this means ANY tax refund for the rest of your life, so unless you never plan to buy a home and take advantage of the mortgage credit, have kids and get the child credit, or pretty much take advantage of any tax credit for the rest of your life that would result in you getting a refund.

RE: “Buy a short-term health insurance policy.”
I thought it was against the law for private insurers to sell policies that do not conform to all ObamaCare rules?
I mean, if it's not against the law, why aren't insurers offering people the same policies they had last year?
The fine is quite low in 2014.
And simply refusing to pay the fine has no legal consequences at all, unless you expect to receive a tax refund.

The implementation of Obamacare may be the event that causes young Americans to recognize that the leftists have become the authoritarian "establishment". It is natural for young people to resist authority and to resent the controlling powers. The financial lynchpin of Obamacare is the participation of young people who will be overcharged in order to fund the program. I suspect that people in their 20's who have been struggling financially are going to resist being herded into high-cost/low-value health insurance.
One more point: Isn't it interesting that we no longer distinguish between "healthcare" and "health insurance"? Most people who lacked health insurance prior to Obamacare were still able to get healthcare in ER's and free clinics.
Obamacare was never about healthcare. We had effective and widely available healthcare. Obamacare is about Socialism, redistribution of wealth and government control. ...And as our youth are now discovering, Obamacare is about the loss of freedom.

Does anyone have any background on WHY Medishare programs are exempt.
I can’t imagine they have a strong lobby effort
The govt hates Christian activity, why a pass on this?
I can imagine insurance companies who did a lot of lobbying like them.
I can’t imagine the Democrats like it.
Who put the exemption in the bill and WHY?

This is unfortunately necessary. Shouldn’t be. The ‘individual mandate’ is illegal and unconstitutional. The government does not have the right to force people to buy insurance, or to tax people who don’t buy it.
But they have the power, and avoiding it is not easy.
What’s next? Forcing me to pay for ‘poor’ peoples’ car insurance? I would pay higher premiums and the government would give them to the ‘poor’ person so they pay little or no premiums? Why not?
Forcing me to pay 10% more at the grocery store so the ‘poor’ person gets a discount?
Forcing me to pay more on insurance for my home so the ‘poor’ get it free?
Sorry. This person has no more to give. Already paying for 0bamaphones, ‘food stamps,’ free internet for the ‘poor’, ‘section 8’ housing, free abortion, free birth control, free sex-change operations, free euthanasia, and free money for the ‘poor.’
